CM Punk beat Sami Zayn to qualify for the 2025 Men’s Elimination Chamber match in Toronto, Canada.
WWE is heading towards its next Premium Live Event, Elimination Chamber 2025. This will be the last major event before WrestleMania 41 and will have major implications for those with the two chamber matches for both Men’s and Women’s divisions.
One of the top superstars competing in the Men’s Elimination Chamber is CM Punk. The Best in the World defeated Sami Zayn on RAW to qualify for the bout. This is his last chance to advance to the main event of WWE WrestleMania this year. Here are the five reasons that suggest CM Punk will walk out of the chamber as the winner this year:
5. Needs a major spot after missing WrestleMania last year
CM Punk was very close to main eventing WrestleMania last year. However, he suffered a major triceps injury in the 2024 Royal Rumble match that ruled out of WrestleMania where he was originally planned to face Seth Rollins in the main event for the World Championship. So Punk needs a major spot this year to gain that credibility that he nearly missed out on and cement himself, still as one of the biggest draws in WWE today.
4. Punk has not competed for a World title for years
CM Punk has not been a part of a World title match at WrestleMania for over a decade. The last match was at WrestleMania 28, where he retained his WWE title against Chris Jericho. Punk needs a victory at the Elimination Chamber to finish this long drought, which would not be a good record for his illustrious WWE resume.
3. Put a better performance in a title match than John Cena
It has been heavily rumored that John Cena will win the Men’s Elimination Chamber match and challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE title at WrestleMania 41. However, there is no denying the fact that CM Punk has the ability to put on much better in-ring matches than Cena today. Moreover, the WrestleMania main event would require someone of that caliber against Cody Rhodes, who is clearly Punk and not Cena, in all fairness, after witnessing his performances in the last few years.
2. Dream Showdown with Cody Rhodes
CM Punk and Cody Rhodes, in the prime of their careers, have never squared off against each other in WWE. The duo command immense star power and status as top attractions for WWE. Moreover, their one-on-one segments so far have been a stellar sight to witness with loud fan reactions. So this dream match would be a top draw for WrestleMania 41, for which Punk must leave the chamber match as the winner.
1. Accomplish the goal of main eventing WrestleMania
CM Punk has been vocal about his lifelong dream in professional wrestling, the main event of WrestleMania. He was very close last year before the aforementioned injury derailed his plans. But with the level of momentum and fan reactions he commands, the time is indeed perfect for The Best in the World to accomplish his goal. So Punk winning the chamber is crucial for him and WWE as a whole to create a memorable moment.
