“The Timeless” speaks her heart out
Toni Storm says her heart belongs with AEW. The current AEW Women’s World Champion was under contract with WWE from 2018 until the end of 2021, when she abruptly left a WWE live event in December. Storm signed with AEW in March 2022 after her request for freedom was granted, and she has since become a staple in their women’s division. Storm recently spoke on Going Ringside and discussed why she left WWE to go elsewhere.
“Well, before AEW, yes, I was a WWE superstar,” Storm recalled. “Eventually came a time where I thought, I must branch out. Something was calling for me. There was something inside of me that says, ‘Toni, no, your destiny is elsewhere,’ and so I went for it. I don’t know what come over me. It was a blur…”
Toni Storm says WWE “crushed” her wrestling dreams
The interviewer brought up a previous comment in which Storm said that the latter portion of her WWE career “crushed” her passion for wrestling. Storm eventually admitted that it was a wild moment in her life, and she is still trying to make sense of it.
“Oh, something like that. I mean, it was all so many things,” Storm said. “It was so many things. Looking back, it was a crazy time in my life, you know? I’m still trying to make sense of it, but I’m happy with where I’ve landed. I’m happy with the decision that I made.
“I mean, thank god for AEW honestly, because you know, there was a time where I wasn’t happy where I was and if it weren’t for All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, I don’t know what I would have been doing. I’m not sure of the trajectory of my life, where it would have gone, had I not had the option to come to All Elite Wrestling so I’m very thankful for it. My heart is here.”
Toni Storm is coming off a win against Serena Deeb
Toni Storm defended her AEW Women’s World Championship against Serena Deeb at AEW Double or Nothing. At AEW Double or Nothing, Serena Deeb battled Toni Storm for the AEW Women’s World Championship. This was Deeb’s first pay-per-view match since her return in January 2024, after being out for more than a year due to an injury.
Deeb demonstrated what “Deeb’s Dojo” was all about as she twisted Storm in submission holds throughout the fight. Storm was taken to school by “The Professor,” but the champion emerged triumphant after hitting an avalanche piledriver and defeating Deeb with the Storm Zero.
