Why didn't Roman Reigns attack Cody Rhodes at WWE SummerSlam 2024?

Roman Reigns made his long-awaited return during the Bloodline Rules match

Roman Reigns after a long hiatus since the WrestleMania 40 Night 2 main event against Cody Rhodes, made his return at the 2024 SummerSlam PLE. Roman made his appearance during the Bloodline rules match between Cody Rhodes & Solo Sikoa.

Roman delivered a Superman punch and a spear to Solo Sikoa and left the ring to favor Cody to retain his Undisputed WWE Championship. Despite having a big rivalry history with Cody, Roman attacked Solo over Cody. Here we take a look at some of the reasons why Roman Reigns didn’t attack Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2024.

3. Problem with Solo Sikoa is bigger than Cody Rhodes

Roman Reigns’ would have considered the issue with Solo Sikoa as a bigger problem than the finished rivalry with Cody Rhodes. In the absence of Roman, Cody acknowledged Roman as his Tribal Chief and failed to acknowledge Solo Sikoa in the position. 

Solo Sikoa took more shots on Roman during his absence, with a lot of false claims to loot the Bloodline, turning on Jimmy Uso & Paul Heyman, recruiting new members and self claiming himself as the Tribal Chief. However, what would have triggered Roman more is the recent cocky promos against Roman, saying that he is a weak Tribal Chief.

Considering all these, Roman’s issue with Solo is bigger than the rivalry with Cody. So Roman would have not attacked Cody during the match.

2. He acknowledges Cody Rhodes

On the other hand, Cody Rhodes legally defeated Roman Reigns to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. However, Solo Sikoa only used Roman’s absence to claim himself as the Tribal Chief. As Cody legally won the title from him, he could have some respect for Cody. This could be one of the reasons for Roman to not attack Cody.

1. Roman returned to recapture his throne

Roman Reigns might have returned only to recapture the throne from Solo Sikoa. The ‘OTC’ print on Roman’s t-shirt meaning ‘Original Tribal Chief’ suggests that Roman has come to reclaim his throne from Solo Sikoa. Roman can have his rematch with Cody at any point of time on due of respect, however before he gets sabotaged by the new Bloodline, he needs to fix the Bloodline things first. So Roman would have attacked Solo instead of Cody.
