Top five reasons why Roman Reigns vs The Rock should not happen at WWE Wrestlemania 41

The mega match between Roman Reigns & The Rock is not the perfect main event for next year’s WrestleMania 41 for many reasons
Roman Reigns vs The Rock is probably the biggest money match and the most anticipated dream match that WWE can offer at this moment. It was expected to be booked for WrestleMania 40, largely because The Rock was busy during the WrestleMania 39 season, and it couldn’t happen at WrestleMania 40 due to the tremendous desire among fans, even the casuals, to see Cody Rhodes finish his story.
But with all that now behind us and considering WWE’s desperate attempts to make the match happen in the last few years, WrestleMania 41 might just be the perfect occasion.
However, we might have to wait a little longer to see the match, and by “a little longer,” I mean one entire year because there seems to be no point in delaying the rivalry any further than Wrestlemania 42. Here are five strong reasons why it won’t be happening at this year’s WrestleMania:
5. The Rock could face Cody Rhodes
The Rock pinned Cody Rhodes in the main event of WrestleMania 40 Night 1, setting up the bloodline rules main event for Night 2. On the Raw after WrestleMania, The Rock appeared while the new undisputed champion Cody Rhodes was delivering his promo to congratulate him.
He then told Cody that they still have unfinished business to take care of, hinting that whenever The Rock returns, it’s Cody Rhodes he’s coming for. Since it’s almost time for WrestleMania, the main event of WrestleMania 41 will likely be set up between the two of them, and if that’s the case, then The Rock vs. Roman Reigns will have to wait.
4. WWE will try to push Solo Sikoa facing Roman Reigns
Although it might not seem like a WrestleMania-worthy match, the storyline certainly is, and nobody can deny that. WWE is slowly building up this match, and there is a good chance we will see the payoff at WrestleMania 41, with Roman Reigns taking on Solo Sikoa for the rights of the original Tribal Chief. Wonder who’s going to win that one?
3. Roman Reigns could face Jacob Fatu
WWE was initially delaying Jacob Fatu’s debut, fearing that he might overshadow the leader of his faction, Solo Sikoa, which is precisely what happened. Since making his main roster debut, Jacob Fatu has been unstoppable in every sense.
The crowd loves him, his moveset is unbelievable for his weight class, and he has that vintage Samoan look. Even if WWE plans Roman vs. Solo for WrestleMania 41, they have pivoted to cater to fan desires before. If fans are vocal about it, we could see a switch, as Roman Reigns vs Jacob Fatu presents a captivating alternative.
2. John Cena’s last WrestleMania
WrestleMania 41 is set to be John Cena’s last, and there are multiple ways for WWE to book the event. The most likely scenario is John Cena challenging Bron Breakker for the only championship he never won in WWE: the Intercontinental Championship.
If this happens, the main event slot of WrestleMania is safe. Alternatively, WWE might book the breaking of Ric Flair’s record with a 17th world championship win angle. Cena could return in the Royal Rumble, win it, and then challenge either Gunther or Cody Rhodes for the world championship at the Showcase of Immortals.
A match of this magnitude can only headline WrestleMania Night 2, as it is viewed as the actual main event. WWE is unlikely to put The Rock vs Roman Reigns on the same card, as it would be unwise to stake everything on the same event.
1. Dwayne Johnson’s schedule
The possibility of The Rock being unavailable is negligible. He is almost guaranteed to be a part of this year’s WrestleMania and would very likely wrestle at the event.
With WWE’s Raw moving to Netflix and his unfinished business with Cody Rhodes, there isn’t a more perfect time for him to make a return.
However, we also can’t ignore that he is Hollywood’s biggest star, often working on multiple projects simultaneously. So, maybe, just maybe, he might not be available for WrestleMania this year, but as already noted, the chances of this happening are negligible.
