Vince McMahon has reached a settlement with the SEC over hush money agreements
WWE co-founder and former CEO, Vince McMahon has settled with the SEC (Security and Exchanges Commission) and has agreed to pay a sturdy 400,000 USD civil penalty and reimburse WWE 1.3 Million USD.
The settlement came after allegations that he violated securities laws by not disclosing millions of dollars in payments made to silence accusations of sexual misconduct. The SEC noted that McMahon agreed to the settlement without admitting or denying the findings.
The news of this settlement has created a buzz in the WWE fandom regarding Brock Lesnar as he was also named in a lawsuit with Vince McMahon. However, Lesnar was mentioned in the Janel Grant lawsuit which is still pending in the courts and Brock’s name has not yet been cleared by the authorities.
Following the news of the settlement, Ann Callis, Grant’s attorney, issued a statement. She mentioned that she and her client are eager to present “new evidence” in the McMahon case. Callis also pointed out that the settlement proves how McMahon repeatedly broke the law.
“During his time leading WWE, Vince McMahon acted as if rules did not apply to him, and now we have confirmation that he repeatedly broke the law to cover up his horrifying behavior, including human trafficking.
The SEC’s charges prove that the NDA Vince McMahon coerced Ms. Grant into signing violates the law, and therefore her case must be heard in court. While prosecutors for the Southern District of New York continue their criminal investigation, we look forward to bringing forward new evidence in our civil case about the sexual exploitation Ms. Grant endured at WWE by Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis.”
Brock Lesnar has been absent from WWE since August 2023
‘The Beast Incarnate’ has been away from the squared ring since SummerSlam 2023. Lesnar was scheduled to make his return at the 2024 Royal Rumble PLE as a participant in the men’s Royal Rumble match.
However, he was removed from the event due to the lawsuit filed by a former WWE employee Janel Grant. Lesnar was replaced by Bron Breakker in the 2024 Royal Rumble and was subsequently removed from WWE’s creative plans for WrestleMania XL.
The Stamford-based promotion distanced itself from the star following his involvement in the Vince McMahon case. All references to him were removed from their programming, and it appears unlikely that he will return until his name is cleared in the lawsuit.
