CM Punk to return this week on WWE Raw, with Drew McIntyre still on suspension
CM Punk tore his right tricep muscle while performing at the Men’s Royal Rumble match earlier this year. This took Punk away from the in-ring competition for a very long time, for more than half of 2024. Although being injured, Punk and Drew McIntyre began a big rivalry with each other, after Drew took credit for ending Punk’s WrestleMania dream.
The rivalry became more personal, at WrestleMania 40 Night 1, where Punk attacked Drew, moments after his title win to screw him and cost his title, by allowing Priest to cash in his MITB contract. Since then Punk took an oath to never let McIntyre become a world champion again. The words drove Punk to Scotland and Canada only to cost McIntyre’s championship matches.
The most recent involvement of Punk during Drew McIntyre’s match caused huge trouble, as Drew attacked officials to get suspended. As Punk is expected to be medically cleared to compete by this SummerSlam 2024 PLE, McIntyre’s suspension status has not changed. As Punk is set to make his return on WWE Raw, here we take a look at the possible involvement of Drew McIntyre.
Will Drew McIntyre attack CM Punk on Raw?
WWE has officially announced that ‘The Second City Saint’ CM Punk will be on Monday Night Raw this week (July 22, 2024) in Wisconsin. It is expected that Punk could announce his medical conditions and his in-ring return.
Backstage reports suggest that he began his in-ring training last week for medical clearance and he would most probably come out with a positive update. There is a huge belief that CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre could be a match at SummerSlam 2024. This strengthens the possibility of Drew showing up on Raw, as SummerSlam is just away from Saturday.
On the other hand, Drew has been under suspension for attacking the officials. He was given a chance to reinstate his status, but he refused to apologize to the referees and is still under suspension. However, McIntyre is not a guy who obeys orders from the General Manager and we have seen him crossing the boundaries many times. Considering all these, the possibility of McIntyre’s appearance on Raw and attacking Punk is high.
All these are just speculations and nothing is confirmed yet. However, we need to wait and watch, if we could see Drew and Punk go for a brawl this week on Raw.
