Tonight’s episode of SmackDown will serve as the go-home show for Backlash 2025!
The current Undisputed WWE Champion, John Cena, cemented himself as the ‘G.O.A.T.’ of pro wrestling when he defeated Cody Rhodes to break the tie with Ric Flair and become the one and only 17-time WWE World Champion.
However, Cena was quickly put on notice after the title defense by a familiar foe known as ‘The Viper’ Randy Orton, who took out Cena with a vicious RKO. Orton stated his intentions to battle Cena for the title and win his 15th World title, inching closer to Cena’s record of 17.
The two stars are now set to battle in the main event of Backlash 2025, where Cena will defend the Undisputed title for the first time. Ahead of the PLE, many fans are wondering if Cena will make an appearance on the go-home show of SmackDown.
Yes, John Cena will make an appearance tonight on Friday Night SmackDown. His appearance was announced last week following Orton’s fiery segment, where he vowed to “punt kick Cena’s head through the St. Louis Gateway Arch.”
The 17-time World Champion will likely respond to the stern warning by the Challenger, and we might see a face-off between the two, which might end in a brawl.
Jade Cargill and Nia Jax will battle in a number one contender’s match
Tonight’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown will air live from the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio. Jade Cargill and Nia Jax will lock horns this week, where the number one contender for the WWE Women’s title is on the line.
Both stars are claiming their shot at the title, and the match is set up to clear the dispute and decide who the current Champion Tiffany Stratton will defend the title next.
Additionally, LA Knight, Damian Priest, and the United States Champion Jacob Fatu will engage in a tag team match ahead of their clash in the fatal four-way match, which also includes Drew McIntyre. Solo Sikoa will team up with Fatu to battle the team of Knight and Priest.
