The Blue brand transitioned to a three-hour show last week

The Stamford-based promotion kicked off the year with a three-hour show of Friday Night SmackDown which aired live from the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The show set the stage for the debut show of Monday Night RAW on Netflix.

The 01/03 episode marked a milestone as it was a three-hour show, kicking off the Blue brand’s transition to the new format. However, recent developments suggest that the transition might be temporary for the Blue brand.

One of the highlights of the first show in 2025 of the Blue brand was Tiffany Stratton cashing in her MITB contract after months of speculations. Stratton cashed in on Nia Jax after her title defense against Naomi.

Tiffany attacked Jax with the briefcase and took care of Candice LeRae and Bianca Belair, making sure no one interfere when she cashes in. Stratton then cashed in and landed the prettiest moonsault to pin Jax and become the new WWE Women’s Champion.

The loss ended Jax’s title reign at 153 days, both of her title losses in the promotion have come via a cash-in. Nia’s first title reign ended when Alexa Bliss cashed in the MITB contract at the Money In The Bank 2018 PLE.

WWE SmackDown will move back to a two-hour format in June

Following the historic debut show of Monday Night RAW on Netflix, WWE CCO Triple H revealed during his conversation with Pat McAfee on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ that the Blue brand will return back to its original two-hour format.

During the conversation, McAfee brought up the topic of both SmackDown and RAW being a three-hour format as opposed to earlier. Triple H replied, “Yes until, right now and then it switches back to 2.”

However, Triple H never specified when the Blue brand will revert back to the two-hour format. However, a report from Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics has revealed that the Blue brand will return to its original two-hour format in June.

“Levesque didn’t specify the timing here. I’ve been informed Smackdown is planned to return to a 2-hour format beginning in June.” Thurston tweeted.
