WWE is coming back in 2024 with the PLE Bad Blood
After scintillating the wrestling fanatics with a blockbuster Bash in Berlin PLE, WWE is ready to welcome back one of its most popular PPVs from back in the day.
The Bad Blood event is ready to make a return after a lengthy absence from the Stamford-based promotion’s plans for 20 years.
Naturally, this news has filled the fans’ hearts with excitement as they await the match card for the monumental night, which will take place on October 5th. Join us now as we try to decode which matches could potentially cut for the special night.
5. Gunther vs Sami Zayn for the World Heavyweight Championship
If we go by the events on the 2nd September edition of Monday Night RAW, Gunther’s next challenger for his coveted strap seems to be Sami Zayn.
A match-up between the two makes total sense, as Zayn was the last superstar who pinned ‘The Ring General’ in one-on-one competitions.
Making this clash official could help the global wrestling phenomenon keep the fans guessing regarding the outcome of the title match.
Moreover, Zayn has time and again proved his worth as a main event guy, and this time won’t be any different.
It seems only a matter of time before this mouth-watering encounter is booked for the Bad Blood event next month.
4. Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley for the Women’s Championship
Liv Morgan has taken away everything from Rhea Ripley as she had promised. But the Australian hit back big time with her partner Damian Priest to topple the team of Morgan and Dominik Mysterio at the Bash in Berlin event.
It feels the Bad Blood event could be the perfect time for the two fierce rivals to continue their singles feud. The match-up for the title is all but confirmed, with the champion accepting Ripley’s challenge if her mouthpiece Mysterio’s words on the latest edition of the Red Brand are to be believed.
This tussle has many elements in the play apart from the title belt, and it would be interesting to see if Ripley can finally regain the women’s championship next month. A title she rightfully claims she never lost.
3. Damian Priest vs Finn Balor
Another rivalry that has been a direct result of Judgement Day’s split is the Damian Priest and Finn Balor beef-up.
The two were inseparable not too long ago but are thirsty for each other’s blood now. The endgame for this scuffle does seem to be a singles encounter between Priest and Balor.
The former would still be having nightmares of the Irish performer costing him his beloved World Heavyweight title at the SummerSlam PLE last month.
While the mixed tag team bout in Berlin was merely an appetizer, a one-on-one standoff between these two former buddies at the Bad Blood PLE would surely serve as a main course.
2. Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship
Heading into the Bash in Berlin PLE, much of the narrative around Cody Rhodes‘ title defense against Kevin Owens was built around one aspect.
That was whether Owens would utilize the kayfabe knee injury to the champion during their match. WWE did a great job of showcasing the dilemma that the Canadian had throughout the title match.
Rhodes was seemingly right for the taking as he suffered another blow to his already injured knee during the first clash of the night. Yet, Owens resisted the urge to unleash his ‘Prizefighter’ persona on the champion, a gimmick that solely focuses on the result irrespective of the means.
Therein lies an excellent angle for the Stamford-based promotion to finally turn Owens’s heel and engage in another title bout with ‘The American Nightmare’. It feels that the Bad Blood PLE is tailor-made for any such potential match-up.
1. CM Punk vs Drew McIntyre in a Hell in a Cell match
Just when CM Punk thought that he had finally gotten over Drew McIntyre, the ‘Scottish Psycopath’ clapped back on RAW and how.
‘The Second City Saint’ was in a jovial mood as he celebrated his Bash in Berlin victory with the capacity Denver crowd. Punk even announced his intentions to go after Gunther‘s World Heavyweight title. However, in a shocking turn of events, McIntyre brutally attacked the two-time WWE champion.
Signaling that this feud, which has taken over much of 2024, still has some unfinished business. The Bad Blood event has always been synonymous with the Hell in a Cell stipulation. The dangerous structure has overseen the last act of so many feuds that it feels a given that the final chapter of Punk and McIntyre’s trilogy would be inside the Cell.
WWE seldom brings back relics of the past in this new era. However, the company seems more than happy to reintroduce the Bad Blood event to its schedule. What’s fitting is that all of the rivalries mentioned above have one thing in common: Bad Blood!
