WWE confirms Champion out indefinitely with shoulder injury

Dominik Mysterio is suffering from a shoulder injury.

The WWE Raw roster just lost one of its most polarizing stars, as Dominik Mysterio is set to miss in-ring action for an indefinite period.

During the latest episode of Raw, commentator Joe Tessitore broke the news, informing viewers that Mysterio is sidelined with a shoulder injury. The announcement came during a backstage segment in the Judgment Day clubhouse, where Tessitore stated that the injury has no confirmed return timeline.

The setback occurred outside WWE, during a tag team match for AAA, where Mysterio teamed with El Grande Americano against Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix.

Currently holding the AAA Mega Championship, the injury halts his momentum in both AAA and WWE circles. For AAA, it is a tough blow given his key role in the promotion since WWE acquired the brand earlier this year.

In WWE, Dominik is the reigning Intercontinental Champion. He originally dropped the title to John Cena during Cena’s final WWE appearance in Boston, but regained it at Survivor Series with a major assist from the returning Liv Morgan.

Dominik Mysterio’s regained gold cemented his run as one of the central figures in the current roster, and now questions arise around what the injury means for his championship responsibilities.

Dominik Mysterio’s injury setback

Dominik’s absence comes at a time when Judgment Day is heavily featured across programming. This week alone saw Raquel Rodriguez challenge Stephanie Vaquer and Nikki Bella in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Women’s World Championship.

Rodriguez impressed but rolled out of the ring at the wrong moment, allowing Vaquer to retain by pinning Bella. The faction’s storylines remain active, but without Dom, creative direction may shift.

While WWE loses Mysterio, another major name returned sooner than expected. Penta made his comeback from a shoulder injury on Raw, supporting Rey Mysterio during an attack by The Vision.

The timing highlights the unpredictability of injury recoveries, but also underscores how unfortunate Dominik’s situation is at a point where storylines were building around him and Morgan.

Dominik’s presence across WWE, NXT Worlds Collide and AAA since the acquisition has been one of the success narratives of 2024–2025.

He defeated El Hijo del Vikingo to become the AAA Mega Champion and has become a major heel force on television. His run with Judgment Day began in 2022 after turning on his father Rey, culminating in their WrestleMania 39 clash. He later split from Rhea Ripley and aligned with Liv Morgan, forming one of WWE’s notable on-screen pairings.

There is no clarity yet on how WWE will address the Intercontinental Championship picture or how AAA will manage its top title.
