This was AJ’s first singles match in over a decade!
In a chaotic, controversy-laced showdown at Elimination Chamber 2026, AJ Lee defeated Becky Lynch to capture the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. It was a tactical battle defined by submissions, missed strikes and one decisive mistake.
Lee opened aggressively, hunting quick roll-ups to steal the victory. Lynch escaped each time, though not without growing visibly frustrated as Lee’s speed dictated the pace. The challenger zeroed in on Lynch’s arm, clearly setting up the Black Widow.
Becky Lynch responded with power and leverage. An exploder suplex out of the corner halted Lee’s surge and reestablished the champion’s physical edge. When Lee finally snared a Black Widow attempt, Lynch countered into a reverse DDT for a near fall.
With the momentum seesawing, Lynch escalated matters. She removed a turnbuckle pad, exposing the steel beneath in a calculated gamble. But Lee avoided disaster and slipped free of a Disarm-her attempt moments later.

The referee noticed the exposed steel and tried to intervene. In the scramble, Lynch shoved Lee into the official before accidentally catching the referee with a kick. With the referee down, Lee trapped Lynch in the Black Widow and forced a tap that went unseen.
Lynch seized the opening and introduced a steel chair. A top-rope sequence ended with Lee crashing awkwardly, followed by a DDT onto the chair that visibly missed. Lynch added a Manhandle Slam after the referee recovered, yet Lee kicked out.
Frustration overtook the champion. Blocked from sending Lee into the exposed turnbuckle, Lynch ran her own face into the steel in a moment of fury. Lee capitalized instantly, locking in the Black Widow for a clean submission victory.
The match felt like it lacked some of the “hard-hitting” elements expected on a stage this size. Several sequences, notably the steel chair spots, were simply missed. Still, the outcome reshaped the division.
AJ Lee stands atop the Women’s Intercontinental division once more. Becky Lynch’s reign ends not with domination, but with self-inflicted error.
