WWE has been keen on hiring top talents recently and this has made a lot of changes inside the company. In 2023, we witnessed a number of wrestlers being released as free agents and signed some of the hottest free agents from the rival promotions. WWE has previously made a decision to reduce Free agency problems, by signing stars with good compensation deals.
We have seen a number of free agents jumping ships from one company to another, especially from AEW to WWE. It seems like we could see yet another AEW star will likely be jumping ship, upon free agency later this year.
HOOK’s free agency & WWE’s interest
SEScoops have reported that AEW star HOOK is looking to explore free agency when his current AEW contract expires later in 2024. Although his exact contract expiring date is not revealed, the report added that a source familiar with WWE’s recruitment strategy commented that he could see clearly that WWE is being interested in him.
“SEScoops has learned that HOOK (Tyler Senerchia) is interested in exploring his options in free agency once his contract with All Elite Wrestling expires later this year. A source familiar with WWE’s recruitment strategy commented, “I can see WWE clearly being interested in him.”
Who is HOOK?
HOOK is a second generation American professional and the son of former WWE star Taz. He started his professional wrestling career in AEW in 2020 aligning with his father Taz under Team Taz consisting of Brain Cage, Ricky Starks and powerhouse Hobbs.
The 24-year-old has evolved into a promising star, who has been praised by critics and fans as one of the most talented rookies. He is a two-time AEW FTW Champion and is currently holding the title on his second reign.
He had shared a ring with some of the toughest stars in AEW and defended his championship successfully. HOOK’s consistency and growth made him compete against Samoa Joe for the AEW World Championship, however it ended in a losing effort.
Hook seems to be a hell of a talent, at just a young age, which seems to be the category that WWE has been looking for. As we can see the WWE has been showing interest in acquiring young talents and handing them a long-term contract.
