WWE NXT will kick things off with a special episode.
WWE’s developmental brand is set to kick off 2026 with a special presentation, as NXT New Year’s Evil takes place on January 6, 2026, from the Capitol Wrestling Center at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
The sixth annual WWE NXT: New Year’s Evil and seventh overall will air live as a special episode of NXT on The CW. This will be the second edition to air on The CW after NXT’s move to the channel in October 2024.
The lineup for the special event began coming together at NXT Deadline 2025, which concluded on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas.
WWE Evolve Women’s Champion Kendal Grey captured victory in the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge against Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, and Jordynne Grace. With the win, she earned a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship.
At New Year’s Evil, Grey will challenge reigning NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne with her sights set on becoming a double champion.
Je’Von Evans emerged victorious in the men’s Iron Survivor Challenge, defeating Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox, and Myles Borne. The win earned Evans a shot at the NXT title opportunity at the January 6 special.
Rather than waiting for New Year’s Evil, Evans pushed for his championship match on the following episode of NXT. Femi ultimately retained the title in that encounter. In the aftermath, NXT General Manager Ava announced that the remaining four competitors from the Iron Survivor Challenge would compete in a fatal four-way match, with the winner receiving an NXT Championship match at New Year’s Evil.
TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater won the fatal four-way to become the new No. 1 contender and is now scheduled to challenge Femi for the NXT Championship.
On the December 16 episode of NXT, Blake Monroe defended the NXT Women’s North American Championship against Thea Hail. The bout concluded with an unexpected, legitimate finish after Monroe failed to kick out. WWE has since scheduled a rematch, giving Monroe an opportunity to right the result and settle the outcome definitively.
Additionally, after defeating Tatum Paxley in their grudge match with assistance from her Culling stablemates, Izzi Dame is set to face Paxley once again in a rematch on January 6.
