Blake Monroe issued an open challenge last week.

WWE NXT rolls into Tuesday night with major stakes across multiple divisions as the fallout from Oba Femi’s successful NXT Championship defense begins to take shape.

With the title picture wide open, a high-stakes Fatal 4 Way match has been announced to determine the next number one contender, featuring four of NXT’s most competitive rising stars battling for a career-changing opportunity.

The women’s division is also set to take center stage after last week’s chaotic open challenge for the Women’s North American Championship.

Blake Monroe’s decision to offer an open challenge brought nearly the entire locker room to the ring, but it was Thea Hail who made the strongest statement. Now, Hail has earned yet another shot at championship gold, hoping this time ends with her first title reign in NXT.

Alongside championship implications, the tag team division will be on display as new and established duos clash. With momentum, pride, and future title opportunities on the line, the December 16 episode of NXT promises a night packed with action, consequences, and must-see matchups.

Announced matches for WWE NXT (December 16, 2025)

  • Dion Lennox v Myles Borne v Leon Slater v Joe Hendry – No. 1 Contenders match to determine the NXT Champion’s New Year’s Evil opponent
  • Blake Monroe (c) vs Thea Hail – Women’s North American title match
  • Hank & Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger) vs OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) – Tag Team match

Dion Lennox v Myles Borne v Leon Slater v Joe Hendry – No. 1 Contenders match to determine the NXT Champion’s New Year’s Evil opponent

A high-stakes Fatal 4-Way Match has been set for next Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT, as Dion Lennox, Myles Borne, Leon Slater, and Joe Hendry will battle to determine the next challenger for the NXT Championship. The winner will earn a title opportunity on January 6 at NXT New Year’s Evil, putting a career-defining prize on the line for all four competitors.

The match was made official by NXT General Manager Ava following Je’Von Evans’ decision to move up his NXT Championship opportunity. With that change, the road to New Year’s Evil needed a new contender, and Ava turned to four men who proved they were evenly matched.

Lennox, Borne, Slater, and Hendry were all tied as runners-up in the Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline, making the Fatal 4-Way the fairest way to settle the score. With momentum, pride, and a guaranteed NXT Championship match at stake, this showdown promises to be one of the most important bouts on the road to New Year’s Evil.

Blake Monroe (c) vs Thea Hail – Women’s North American title match

After failing to defend her title at NXT Deadline, Blake Monroe issued an open challenge for the NXT Women’s North American Championship last Tuesday, drawing nearly the entire women’s locker room to the ring. The chaotic scene made it clear how much interest there is in dethroning the champion.

Amid the scramble, Thea Hail stood out as the one who truly made an impact, getting her hands on Monroe and staking her claim in the process. That confrontation earned Hail a one-on-one title opportunity, setting the stage for another pivotal moment in her NXT journey.

Hail has come agonizingly close to championship gold on multiple occasions, only to fall short each time. Now, with the Women’s North American Championship on the line, she has a chance to finally break through. Tuesday’s matchup against Monroe could determine whether Hail’s persistence pays off or if the champion once again finds a way to survive.

Hank & Tank (Hank Walker & Tank Ledger) vs OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) – Tag Team match

The December 16 episode of WWE NXT will also feature a hard-hitting tag team clash as Hank Walker and Tank Ledger, collectively known as Hank & Tank, take on O.T.M.’s Bronco Nima and Lucien Price.

Both teams are looking to make a statement in NXT’s competitive tag team division, where momentum can quickly lead to title opportunities.

Hank & Tank continue to build chemistry through their power-based offense, while O.T.M. bring an aggressive, no-nonsense style designed to overwhelm their opponents. With pride and positioning on the line, this matchup gives both duos a chance to stand out and prove they belong among NXT’s top tag teams moving forward.
