The vacant NXT title will be contested tonight.
Get set for another action-packed episode of WWE NXT tonight, airing January 27 from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. Tonight’s show featured a packed card with multiple title showdowns as WWE looks to crown a new NXT Champion.
Since Oba Femi vacated the NXT title, the then-GM Ava announced qualifier matches where contenders rose to claim their spot in the ladder match to crown the vacant title. Speaking of Ava, the former NXT GM has parted ways with the company, and the promotion will likely appoint a new GM tonight.
The vacant WWE NXT Championship will be decided in a high-stakes ladder match featuring Ricky Saints, Shiloh Hill, Sean Legacy, Jackson Drake, Dion Lennox, Keanu Carver, and Joe Hendry.
Following the attack on Hendry, GM Ava granted Jackson Drake a spot in the match, while noting that if Hendry is medically cleared in time, he will also be added, bringing the total number of competitors in the match to seven.
After winning last week’s number-one contenders match for the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championship, Zaruca (Sol Ruca & Zaria) are now scheduled to challenge the reigning champions, The Elegance Brand (Heather by Elegance & M by Elegance), tonight.
Elsewhere on the card, NXT Women’s North American Champion Izzi Dame will put her title on the line for the second time, defending against former champion Thea Hail and Lola Vice in a triple-threat bout.
Tony D’Angelo is also confirmed to appear on the February 3 episode. During the January 27 show, he met with Ava, who arranged his release after his actions the previous week.
D’Angelo said he would address his behavior on this week’s episode, while Ava warned him to stay out of the ladder match to crown the new NXT Champion.
