WWE plans revealed for John Cena ahead of Elimination Chamber 2025 PLE: Reports

The Cenation Leader has announced his entry into the men’s Elimination Chamber match

The 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena failed in his attempt to win the last Royal Rumble match of his career as he was eliminated by Jey Uso, who won the match in the first PLE of 2025 at the Lucas Oil Stadium on February 1.

Following the loss, Cena during the post-match press conference announced that he was entering the men’s Elimination Chamber match which is set for Elimination Chamber 2025 PLE on March 1 at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

“What is best for business is I main event WrestleMania, And what is best for business is for the first time, I confidently say that I’m gonna win a seventeenth championship. So I’m announcing tonight that I will compete in the Elimination Chamber.” Cena said.

A recent report from Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has now unveiled the plans of the Stamford-based promotion regarding Cena’s next move at the second PLE of 2025.

According to Meltzer, WWE has been planning a match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes since October or November. The plan was for Cena to win the Elimination Chamber match, setting up one of the major matches for WrestleMania 41. The storyline would focus on Cena’s quest for his record-breaking 17th world title reign.

CM Punk & Drew McIntyre has qualified for the men’s Elimination Chamber match

Following Cena’s announcement, CM Punk took on Sami Zayn in the main event of the fallout show from Royal Rumble PLE of Monday Night Raw. Punk emerged victorious in the clash and joined Cena in the six-man Chamber match.

On the 02/07 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Drew McIntyre engaged in a triple-threat match alongside Jimmy Uso and LA Knight. Despite tough opposition, McIntyre landed the claymore and pinned Knight to qualify for the match.

More qualifying matches are set for next week where Rey Mysterio and Logan Paul will battle on Raw while Damian Priest, Jacob Fatu, and Braun Strowman will collide in a triple-threat match on SmackDown.
