Joe Hendry appears on NXT due to TNA-NXT Collaboration!
Joe Hendry is one of the fan-favorite professional wrestlers who is currently signed with TNA Wrestling. However, the Scottish men appear on WWE NXT as a part of the TNA-NXT collaboration. Hendry is having a great year and actively performing in both shows.
Within just a few appearances, Hendry became the #1 Contender for the NXT Championship and is all set to face Ethan Page for the title at WWE NXT this Sunday at NXT No Mercy. At this stage, the company has planted seeds for Hendry’s WWE main roster debut against another Scottish man.
Joe Hendry vs Drew McIntyre
On the August 27, 2024, episode of WWE NXT, Joe Hendry appeared backstage, walking across several WWE Superstars photo frames attached to the wall. While passing through the frames, Hendry stopped seeing Drew McIntyre’s photo frame and had a brief staredown.
As WWE does everything on purpose, this kicked off the rumors that the company might have planted seeds for a future match between the two Scottish men. This is not the first time Drew McIntyre got mentioned during a Joe Hendry segment in WWE NXT, previously when Hendry had his rivalry with The Gallus, McIntyre was mentioned in the storyline.
Although the rumors are teasing a potential feud, both have huge respect for each other. Hendry in an old interview revealed that Drew helped him a lot to become a pro-wrestler while working for the Independent circuits in the UK. He said that he is his inspiration and will always be a locker room leader for him.
Joe Hendry on Drew McIntyre,
“Well, Drew’s probably… he might be the person who taught me the most by wrestling them… Drew really forced me to up my game, up my intensity level and trust myself to be more than just a comedy act basically, so, I think Drew really pushed me to do that. Drew is a great guy, a locker room leader and a super hard worker and you know, what he’s doing is quite inspirational and I’m inspired by that.”
On the other hand, Drew said that he does believe in Joe Hendry and is always proud of him
“I do believe in Joe Hendry. I do. He’s doing awesome and I’m very, very proud of him, especially, you know, getting the song so high up in the charts and caused as much buzz as he’s caused. He’s deserved a big opportunity for a long time, and thankfully he’s been able to showcase himself on IMPACT and I’m sure it’s just going to keep going up and going up. The sky’s the limit. He can do it all.”
Also, Drew McIntyre tweeted a GIF video of Joe Hendry to increase more tension.
