As the debut episode of Monday Night Raw approaches, anticipation among fans for the return of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson continues to build. With no official update on his status, speculation has surged across social media.
Johnson has become a hot topic among WWE fans, especially regarding his return to the Red brand’s debut show. The Rock was last seen on WWE television in October 2024 and has been absent from it since.
Johnson appeared following the main event at Bad Blood 2024, where he stared down Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns and left without uttering a word. While Johnson is a busy man and has multiple commitments outside the ring many fans are hoping to see him return on the debut show on Monday.
The Rock has announced his return to WWE on his social media, confirming his appearance on the RAW debut on Netflix.
It seems like Johnson has hinted at his supposed appearance on the debut show in a recent Instagram post. Johnson recently shared that he will be presenting at this Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The venue is coincidentally just a 20-minute drive from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood which is the venue for the Red brand’s debut show the following day. Taking to his Instagram, The Final Boss confirmed his Golden Globes appearance and expressed his excitement over Moana 2 being nominated for Best Animated Picture.
“We CHEE HOO’n all night this Sunday 🥂 As always, I’ll have fun presenting, but more importantly – having MOANA 2 nominated for Best Picture is so special and humbling, as it represents this global embrace of our Polynesian culture and people. As the character, ‘Maui’ and producer this is a very cool and special night. We say it loud and proud,” Johnson wrote.
There is a possibility that Johnson will make his electrifying appearance on the debut show, maybe even confronting Roman Reigns or Cody Rhodes.
However, there is still no official word from the promotion or Johnson about his WWE return. Fans are hoping that this appearance at the Golden Globe will lead to the Rock’s return.
The Rock’s transformation into the Final Boss
Johnson made his electrifying return earlier last year amid much fanfare. Prior to this, Johnson was mostly seen in part-time appearances due to his busy schedule. Johnson transitioned into acting from WWE and became one of the biggest stars the industry has ever seen.
However, the WWE fans quickly turned on him when it was revealed that he was replacing Cody Rhodes for the WrestleMania 40 encounter with Roman Reigns.
The WWE creative team which initially thought the concept would work quickly realized and obliged with fans and reinserted Rhodes back into the storyline. The Rock turned heel subsequently and joined forces with the OG Bloodline and clashed with Rhodes ahead of the WrestleMania event.
Johnson is known for changing with the times and redefining his characters once again to channel the heel persona from the early 2000s when ‘The Final Boss’ was created.
However, Johnson’s packed schedule kept him away for most of the time. The brief glimpses we did get of the Final Boss were spine-tingling, solidifying that whenever he returns, chaos will surely follow.
