Penta wins again, Sami Zayn & Bayley announce for Rumble, Rey Mysterio defeats Kofi & more!

The third episode of Monday Night Raw on Netflix emanated from the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Following in the footsteps of Blue Brand’s show the 01/20 show continued building towards Saturday Night’s Main Event.

The show also featured the developments from the last week’s episode including the celebration of the newly crowned inaugural Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

Get to know what happened this Monday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winner’s list for the 01/20 episode of WWE Raw.

WWE Raw Summary and Highlights

Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley was ambushed backstage by Nia Jax during the arrival, officials and security stepped in to diffuse the situation.

Michael Cole welcomed the crowd to the 01/20 episode of Raw along with Wade Barrett who was filling in for Pat McAfee

Jey Uso

‘Main Event’ Jey Uso kicked off the show in Dallas, Texas, with the crowd ‘yetting’ with him as he made his way into the arena via the crowd stands. Jey made his way into the ring, picked up the mic, and addressed the crowd, hyping them up for his upcoming title clash at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Gunther’s music hit, interrupting Jey. The Heavyweight Champion made his way into the ring, picked up the mic, and asked if Jey was going to become the champion on Saturday. Jey agreed, stating that he would win the title and hang it up in his room.

The Ring General mocked Jey, stating that he was excited to get in the ring and square up with Jey Uso until today when he came here and acted like a complete ‘dork.’ Jey tried to speak, but Gunther cut him off, claiming that the crowd was naive enough to believe whatever Jey said.

Gunther called Jey a ‘useful idiot’ and claimed that Jey’s words and actions didn’t align, while his did. Jey responded, saying that he was the mascot and the crowd here was his team, his squad, and Gunther was right.

Jey further stated that he respected the Ring General, but Gunther would have to put some respect on his name, reminding him that someone main-evented WrestleMania, and it wasn’t the Ring General. Gunther had heard enough and attacked Jey, leading to a brawl between the two.

Jey fought back and gained the upper hand, landing a superkick that sent Gunther out of the ring. The Ring General angrily stepped back to the edge of the ring but ultimately decided to retreat as Jey celebrated with the crowd.

Backstage

The New Day was backstage when they ran into Hall of Fame JBL. Kofi announced that JBL would be the guest commentator for their upcoming clash against Rey Mysterio. Kofi slipped some money into JBL’s pocket, and Woods and Kingston praised his accolades in the ring.

JBL fired back, stating that everybody wanted the muscular ‘Big E,’ which irked Kofi and Woods. They were clearly unhappy with the backhanded compliment.

Cath Kelley was backstage with Bayley, who was back on Monday Night Raw. Kelley asked what the former champion had to announce.

Bayley expressed her excitement as she reflected on her early career, which had started on Raw after she transferred from NXT. She declared her entry into the 2025 Royal Rumble, vowing to repeat last year’s success and win the Rumble.

Nia Jax interrupted, stating that she would win the Rumble. Bayley responded, saying that she did what Nia did to Rhea Ripley, and if Nia dared to pull something like that again, she would retaliate.

Kofi Kingston vs Rey Mysterio

The bell rang, and the action was underway in the first match of the show. Rey Mysterio took control early as the action spilled ringside. After a commercial break, Kofi had gained control of the match, with the crowd reacting to every punch thrown.

Mysterio fought back, using his quickness to drop Kofi before making his way to the top rope. Kingston joined him, and the two continued fighting on the second rope. Mysterio headbutted Kingston and followed it up with a senton.

Kingston poked Rey in the eyes and took him down into a cover, but Mysterio kicked out. Kingston missed with Trouble in Paradise, allowing Mysterio to line him up for the 619. However, Woods grabbed Mysterio’s leg to stop his momentum.

The referee had enough and removed Woods from ringside. Mysterio pushed Woods off the ring apron, and the match continued. Kingston attacked Mysterio, but Rey countered once again, hitting the 619. Mysterio went for the splash from the top rope, but Kofi got his knees up. He covered Mysterio, but Rey kicked out.

Mysterio fired back and rolled up Kingston into a pin, securing the win in the first match. Rey celebrated the victory, but Woods attacked him from behind, pulling him into the ring. Kingston joined in on the attack.

LWO’s music hit as Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro darted into the ring to aid Rey, Kofi and Woods stepped out of the ring as LWO members checked on Rey. However, Kingston and Woods quickly attacked Cruz Del Toro.

Backstage

Cath Kelley was backstage as Chad Gable was discussing something with his American-Made faction. Kelley informed him that she was slated to interview Gable, but he was busy.

Chad Gable joined in and stated that he was man enough to admit when he had a problem. Gable explained that he had figured it out and revealed that he had gone to Dominik Mysterio, who would help him with his luchador problem.

Ivy Nile then joined in, expressing her intentions toward the new Women’s IC title. The Creed Brothers also entered the scene, saying they were coming for the Tag Team Championships and wanted the War Raiders.

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn thanked the crowd and got right to business, stating that he had spoken to Adam Pearce and was announcing his entry into the 2025 Royal Rumble.

Zayn revealed that when Seth Rollins told him to think about himself, he went into a rabbit hole, reflecting on the small group of people who make it to WWE and the even smaller group at the top tier, which is where he now stands.

He stated that the only difference between him and big names like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins was that they held the title, but he didn’t. Zayn thanked the crowd for their support throughout his career but revealed that despite their love meaning a lot to him, he still wanted the title.

Kevin Owens‘ music hit as the Prizefighter made his way down the entrance ramp, carrying the Winged Eagle title. Kevin stepped into the ring as Sami Zayn stated that it was only a matter of time before Owens came out and asked how KO wanted to do this.

KO looked puzzled as Zayn continued, saying that the whole world saw what he did to Cody Rhodes when he teamed up with Roman Reigns. Kevin responded by saying he had reviewed Zayn’s actions teaming up with Reigns but pointed out that it was different.

Owens then claimed that Zayn was a good person because he did a lot for others, especially his friends. KO revealed that he was Zayn’s best friend and wholeheartedly believed that Sami would win the Royal Rumble and go on to fight for the title.

Kevin Owens reflected on their journey, recalling how they had main-evented WrestleMania and won the tag titles, but pointed out that there was one thing they hadn’t done yet: fight for the title and main-event WrestleMania.

Kevin continued, saying that his victory over Cody and Zayn winning the Royal Rumble was a sure thing because he had Sami’s back, just like Sami had Roman’s back. He reassured Zayn that he would be there for him during the ladder match if he needed him. KO then left the ring, leaving Zayn looking puzzled as he processed Owens’ words.

Backstage

Cath Kelley was backstage with Sheamus, asking him about his upcoming Intercontinental title clash against Bron Breakker and the importance of the title.

Sheamus explained that he had been chasing the title for so long and had come so close multiple times. This time, he was determined to fulfill his destiny and win the last title he hadn’t yet claimed in WWE.

Bron Breakker then walked in, stating that he would break Sheamus on Saturday. He advised Sheamus to retire, calling him an “old man” who wouldn’t be able to come close to the IC title.

Bayley vs Nia Jax

Roxanne Perez was in the audience as Nia Jax awaited Bayley’s presence for their clash tonight. The bell rang, and Jax tried to attack, but Bayley countered, landing multiple shots on the former champion while standing on the second rope.

Jax fired back with a modified pop-up headbutt, going for an early cover, but Bayley kicked out. Jax went for the elbow drop but Bayley rolled out of harm’s way and fired back with a drop into the cover, Nia kicked out.

The action spilled outside the ring as Bayley took down Nia Jax with a suicide dive through the ropes. Bayley then confronted Roxanne Perez, who was in the crowd stands. The two stars exchanged words, arguing back and forth. Perez tried to take a cheap shot at Bayley, but Bayley countered, dropping the former NXT Women’s Champion. Perez quickly jumped at her, but security intervened to separate them.

The gruelling match between Nia Jax and Bayley continued as Jax kept up the attack, ramming Bayley into the ring post and following it up with a running slam.

Nia went for the Annihilator, but Bayley countered and went for a running knee. She covered Jax, but Nia kicked out once again. The two stars found themselves on the second rope, with Bayley landing a sunset flip from the top and going for the cover, but Jax kicked out again.

Bayley attacked once more with an elbow drop from the top rope, but Jax still kicked out. Nia Jax then fired back with a pop-up Samoan drop, followed by a senton, and finished it off with the Annihilator into the cover. Nia Jax picked up the win against Bayley.

As Nia Jax celebrated her victory, Rhea Ripley‘s music hit, and the Women’s World Champion stormed into the ring to settle the score for the earlier backstage attack during the arrivals.

The brawl began immediately, with security and officials rushing in to diffuse the situation and separate the two. Despite their efforts, Nia and Rhea continued to clash, with Jax bouncing Ripley’s head off the announce table and putting the champion on top of it as she started to climb.

Officials quickly intercepted Jax’s actions, but Ripley retaliated, taking out both Jax and the entire security with a powerful splash. The security once again struggled to regain control of the situation.

Ripley then grabbed a mic and climbed onto the announce desk, making the fight between her and Nia Jax official for the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Backstage

Chad Gable was in the Judgment Day’s clubhouse, asking Dominik Mysterio for help with his problem against the luchador. Dominik handed Gable the number of someone who could assist him with the issue.

JD McDonagh asked what all the fuss was about, and Dominik explained that it was a long story. McDonagh then inquired about their plans ahead, revealing that Finn Balor was out of action after the damage he took from Damian Priest last week.

Liv Morgan reminded them that listening to Finn hadn’t helped them up until now. Dominik then floated the idea of replacing Balor and helping them win the tag titles.

Morgan and Dominik exchanged backhanded compliments, with Liv visibly upset by Dominik’s actions, especially after Morgan lost the title in the debut episode on Netflix. Dominik revealed that he had something planned for Morgan, and the two left the clubhouse.

Seth Rollins was backstage when Sami Zayn walked in, thanking Rollins for their conversation last week. Rollins responded, saying it was about time, and that he was almost rooting for Zayn. However, he warned him that when push came to shove, he would be the first to throw him in the Royal Rumble.

Zayn fired back, and the two stood face to face in a friendly way. Before leaving, Zayn wished Rollins success in his main event clash against Drew McIntyre. Karrion Kross can be seen behind Rollins and Zayn during the segment.

Penta vs Pete Dunne

Pete Dunne was already inside the ring as Penta made his entry into the American Airlines Center for their clash. The bell rang, and Pete Dunne took control early, brutalizing Penta and attacking his fingers.

Penta fought back, countering Dunne’s offense, and went for a suicide dive outside the ring. However, Dunne countered with a shove and followed it up with an inverted suplex on the edge of the ring. Penta quickly retaliated, dropping Dunne with a Death Valley Driver and going for the cover, but Pete kicked out in time.

The match continued, with Penta landing the Mexican Destroyer. Dunne managed to roll out of the ring, but Penta went high, leaping from the top rope to take Dunne out ringside. Back inside the ring, Dunne countered Penta’s offense, dropping him on his head, and went for the cover. Penta kicked out once again.

The two stars were on their knees, exchanging blows in the middle of the ring. Dunne locked in the triangle choke, but Penta broke the hold by powering out and dropping Pete with a powerbomb.

Penta hunted for the finish, lifting Dunne and delivering the “Penta Driver,” securing the win for Penta and picking up his second victory on Monday Night Raw.

Punk reflected on his victory in the debut episode of Raw on Netflix against Seth Rollins, promising to make history two weeks from now at the Rumble. The Second City Saint boldly claimed that nobody could beat him with the people behind him.

He stated that he didn’t see John Cena throwing him out of the Rumble and reminded everyone that Roman Reigns needed his help to win against the Bloodline. Punk went on to blast other names that had announced their entry into the 2025 Rumble. He wrapped up the interview by promising a victory at the Royal Rumble on February 1.

Kai and Baszler started the action, with Sonya Deville watching from ringside as her stablemates battled Damage CTRL.

Baszler tagged in Stark, but Dakota Kai didn’t realize it and continued to attack Baszler. Kai’s attack missed, and Stark capitalized, taking Kai out with a brutal missile dropkick. Baszler remained in the ring and continued her assault on Kai, who tried to rally back and tag Iyo Sky.

Kai fought off Baszler and Stark, eventually tagging in Sky, who darted into the ring and took out both women. Sky followed up with a suicide dive on Baszler, then went to the top rope for a diving move onto Stark.

She went for the Bullet Train Attack into the cover, but Sonya Deville caused a distraction. Dakota Kai stepped in, pulling Deville’s legs out from under her, causing Deville to crash face-first on the mat.

Drew looked to take control, intercepting and thwarting attacks from the Visionary. Rollins, however, took McIntyre out with a suicide dive through the ropes. Seth went for another dive, but this time McIntyre intercepted, launching Rollins through the announcer’s desk.

The action continued as Drew landed an elbow and followed it up with an Alabama Slam, but Rollins countered, rolling McIntyre into a quick cover. The Visionary then attacked with multiple shots to McIntyre’s chest, forcing the referee to step in.

Drew picked up Rollins, but Seth countered, dropping down and sending McIntyre crashing into the ring post. Rollins followed up with three more slams into the post, then slammed Drew’s arm into the steel.

McIntyre took down Zayn and stepped into the ring, picking up Rollins and yelling that they should be on the same team. Sami Zayn stepped into the ring to attack McIntyre, but Drew rolled out of harm’s way, causing Zayn to inadvertently land the Helluva Kick on Rollins instead.
