WWE Raw Summary and Highlights

Seth Rollins

The Visionary picked up the mic, addressed the Atlanta crowd, and welcomed them to Monday Night Rollins. Rollins stated that he had won the Royal Rumble match and had officially kicked off the WrestleMania season.

He recapped how rough his year had started with a loss in the debut episode, and as “CM Punk” chants filled the arena, Rollins claimed that he hadn’t stayed down. When he was focused, there was nobody on the planet better than him.

Rollins then delivered a fiery promo about the Royal Rumble match, saying that despite the match being stacked with talent, he had tossed everyone out and secured his place in the main event.

The Visionary made a special mention of Roman Reigns and CM Punk, stating that he was a man on a mission, and nothing would stop him from achieving his goals.

Rollins then took a moment to reflect on his plans after winning the Royal Rumble. He explored his options, pondering whether he would challenge Gunther for the Intercontinental Championship or set his sights on Cody Rhodes for the World Heavyweight Championship. Either way, Rollins made it clear that his future was looking bright, and he would be making waves at WrestleMania.

Rollins asked the crowd who he should face after winning the Rumble match. Gunther’s music hit, and the Ring General made his walk towards the ring.

Gunther – Seth Rollins

Gunther entered the ring and asked where Seth had been in the last few months. He then recapped his recent title defense against “the clown” Jey Uso.

The Ring General stated that he wasn’t sure if Rollins still had it in him. Rollins fired back, reminding Gunther that the Heavyweight title wouldn’t even exist without him, and it was synonymous with Seth “Freakin” Rollins. Gunther acknowledged Rollins’ accolades but reminded him that it was 2025, and Rollins wasn’t the best wrestler in the company anymore Gunther is.

The Ring General then requested that Rollins win the Rumble match and challenge him at WrestleMania. Suddenly, Logan Paul’s music hit as the Maverick made his return to Monday Night Raw!

Logan Paul

Logan Paul stepped into the ring and picked up the mic as the crowd erupted in boos. The Maverick went off on both Rollins and Gunther, the arena continuing to boo him relentlessly.

Logan stated that in the Netflix era, the company needed a new face, and Rollins and Gunther just didn’t get it. The “You Suck!” chants filled the arena, and Paul mocked that he couldn’t hear the Atlanta crowd.

The Maverick announced his entry into the 2025 Royal Rumble match, stating he was going to work smarter, not harder. Paul then reflected on his options after winning the Rumble, naming Rhodes first, then Gunther. The Ring General and Rollins both laughed at the mention.

Gunther then replied that he had changed his mind and now wanted Logan to win the Rumble match. Rollins fired back, stating that he would take the title back from the Ring General. The Visionary then left the ring, and the segment ended.

Backstage

Cath Kelley interviewed CM Punk backstage and asked him about the Royal Rumble and Logan Paul just announcing his entry into the match.

Punk replied that he was winning the Royal Rumble. Sami Zayn interrupted as he confronted Punk about his comments last week that “Sami Zayn is not on my level.” Punk went to reply, but Zayn stated that he wasn’t even mad because he agreed and reminded him that one of them had main-evented Mania and the other hadn’t.

Sami left as he ran into Karrion Kross, who asked if he felt good kicking Seth Rollins last week. Zayn stated that he was not in the mood to listen to Kross or play his games. Karrion reminded us that this year was the best opportunity at Zayn’s feet. Cody Rhodes appeared as he greeted Zayn, who left after greeting Rhodes.

War Raiders (Erik & Ivar) (c) vs JD McDonagh & Dominik Mysterio – WWE World Tag Team Championship

The bell rang as McDonagh and Dirty Dom launched an assault on the champion, taking out Ivar and shifting their attention to Erik. Dominik took out Ivar with a suicide dive ringside, then once again turned their attention to Erik, who tried to fight back.

McDonagh then took out Ivar with a moonsault from the top rope ringside, but JD accidentally hit the back of his head on the announcer’s desk. McDonagh shook off the pain and entered the arena after a tag. Ivar was not the official man, allowing McDonagh to take back control of the title match.

In the closing moments of the match, Ivar went to the top rope as McDonagh landed a big kick and followed it up with a slam from the top rope. He went for the cover, but Ivar kicked out. Dirty Dom became the official man and ran into a spinning heel kick by Ivar, who now looked for the tag. However, Carlito got involved and attacked Erik.

Mysterio capitalized and landed a 619 on Ivar, as McDonagh and Dominik followed up with the attack for the finish. McDonagh went for the cover, but Erik saved the title by pushing McDonagh onto Dominik to break the cover.

Ivar took care of Carlito, and the tag champions double-teamed to land the ‘War Machine.’ They went for the cover, and the War Raiders retained the World Tag Team titles.

Backstage

Pete Dunne was backstage when Ludwig Kaiser appeared and tried to befriend him. Kaiser talked about Dunne’s loss last week against Penta and stated that somebody needed to show Penta how things ran around here.

Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods appeared, agreeing with Kaiser and attempting to befriend Dunne and Kaiser, who both looked disgusted as they walked away.

Cath Kelley then walked in and asked Woods about facing Rey Mysterio tonight and Kingston’s failed attempt at defeating Mysterio last week. Kofi Kingston interrupted, stating that Atlanta’s favorite son was home. Kelley tried to guess who he was talking about.

Woods and Kofi got irked by Kelley guessing wrong, and Woods ended the segment by stating that he was going to beat Rey Mysterio tonight!

Rey Mysterio vs Xavier Woods

The bell rang, and the two stars locked horns inside the ring, with LWO and Kingston at ringside. Michael Cole, from the commentary desk, informed that LWO’s Zelina Vega had been transferred to SmackDown and this would be her last Raw appearance. Woods took control of the match as Kingston continued to hype up his tag partner.

Mysterio fought back, landing a big elbow and following it up with a kick. From the top rope, Rey took out Woods with a senton.

Rey climbed to the top rope again, but Woods slid out and retaliated. The action returned to the top rope as Woods picked up Mysterio, who fought back and landed a sunset flip powerbomb. He followed it up with a code red, went for the cover, but Woods kicked out.

Woods now realized that his family had arrived ringside and went on to ask where they had been. To his shock, Woods’ parents removed their jackets to reveal the “New Day Sucks!” t-shirts they were wearing.

Woods lost his cool as he shifted his attention to his family, stepping back into the ring, only to eat a 619 from Mysterio. Rey went for the cover, and Rey Mysterio defeated Xavier Woods.

After the match, Mysterio and the LWO members embraced Xavier Woods’ family as they gifted Mysterio the “New Day Sucks!” tee.

Backstage

Sami Zayn was in the locker room when Seth Rollins appeared. Zayn tried to explain that last week was an accident and he didn’t mean to kick Seth. Rollins accepted that it was a mistake but explained why he and others might not see it as one, especially because of Roman Reigns.

Seth then stated that if last week’s mishap happened again, he wouldn’t consider it a mistake. Rollins embraced Zayn and wished him the best of luck in getting the win against Drew McIntyre that night.

Jey Uso

“Main Event” Jey Uso‘s music hit as he made his walk to the ring, accompanied by hip-hop star Quavo. Jey stepped into the ring, continuing to “Yeet” with the crowd. He then stepped out of the ring and climbed onto the announcer’s desk, where Quavo, Michael Cole, Pat McAfee, and the crowd joined him.

Jey picked up the mic while still on the commentary desk and stated that he needed that after last night. He reflected on his loss at SNME but lauded Gunther, going on to say that he could beat him.

Jey then declared that he knew what to do on Saturday, stating that he would win the Royal Rumble and go on to headline WrestleMania to become the World Heavyweight Champion.

Backstage

Jacie Redmond was backstage with the inaugural Intercontinental Champion, Lyra Valkyria. Jacie asked Lyra about her statement that she would be a fighting champion.

Valkyria announced her entry into the 2025 Royal Rumble match and went on to state her goals after winning the match. Chad Gable, along with his American-Made faction, interrupted and stated that Lyra shouldn’t be too comfortable with the title because Ivy Nile was going to take it away from her.

Valkyria fired back, stating that this was the closest they were ever going to get to the title. Ivy Nile responded, stating that she would cut the bird wings off Valkyria.

American Made then ran into Alpha Academy, who were making a TikTok video. Gable mocked Otis, Tozawa, and Maxine Dupree as the segment ended.

Bianca Belair & Naomi vs Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez

The bell rang as Bianca immediately went for the KOD, but Morgan managed to slip out as the match continued. Raquel was not the official woman, as she tried to take control. Bianca tagged in Naomi, and the tag champs attacked Raquel.

Rodriguez showcased her power, taking out Naomi and tagging in Morgan, with the two continuing the attack on Naomi. The match went back and forth as both teams fought for control, each trying to secure the win.

In the closing moments, Morgan tagged in Raquel, who planted Belair on the mat, followed it up with a powerbomb onto Morgan onto Belair and went for the cover. Belair kicked out.

Belair and Naomi then double-teamed to take down Raquel, but Raquel retaliated and tagged in Morgan. Morgan landed the Code Breaker on Belair and looked for another, but Bianca turned it into the KOD. Dominik Mysterio appeared to cause a distraction.

Belair tagged in Naomi, who took out Dirty Dom ringside with a springboard crossbody. Inside the ring, Naomi went for the cover, but Raquel dragged Naomi outside and planted her on the edge of the ring. Back inside the ring, Morgan got the easy pin and stole the win from Belair and Naomi.

Backstage

Cathy Kelley was backstage with Rhea Ripley, congratulating her for retaining her title against Nia Jax at SNME. Kelley asked how Ripley’s body felt after all the punishment she took in the title defense.

Ripley stated that she was a little banged up and gave Jax props for being a good opponent at SNME. Kelley then asked for Ripley’s predictions for the Royal Rumble, and Ripley replied that it really didn’t matter who won the Rumble.

Bayley appeared and stated that it might be her who Ripley would see at this year’s WrestleMania. Ripley offered Bayley good luck and left, as Bayley witnessed Iyo Sky. The two former Damage CTRL members came face to face, and Sky said, “See you Saturday,” before leaving.

Paul Heyman

Heyman picked up the mic and stated that he was behind the G.O.A.T., the only and only Tribal Chief, the one who represents the entire WWE. He went on to reveal the cover of WWE 2K25, with Roman Reigns being unveiled as the cover star for the 2025 edition of the game. The poster for the cover dropped above the ring.

Heyman then cut a promo for the upcoming Royal Rumble, stating that it would be one vs 29. The Wiseman reminded everyone how Reigns had promised to take back the Ula Fala, and he did. Now, Heyman said, Reigns was coming back for his championship, which would begin Saturday at the Royal Rumble.

Paul stated that there were 29 Roman Reigns wannabes in the locker room and finished the segment. As Heyman prepared to leave the ring, Drew McIntyre’s music hit, and the Scottish Psychopath appeared.

Drew McIntyre – Paul Heyman

McIntyre stepped into the ring and picked up the mic, stating that he just wanted to talk to Heyman as “We want Roman” chants filled the arena. Drew claimed that he was responsible for all the success Heyman and Reigns were having right now, causing the crowd to erupt in “We don’t care” chants.

McIntyre called himself the ‘daddy’ of the Bloodline and went on to explain the chain reaction of events, calling Heyman a genius. Drew stated that he was only looking for a simple thank you. Heyman obliged, thanking Drew, but then fired back that McIntyre was crowding him.

McIntyre agreed and stepped back. The Scottish Warrior then asked Heyman to send a warning to ‘his’ boy for the upcoming Rumble match if he was going to demolish him. Heyman replied that he would give Roman Drew’s message, but McIntyre interrupted, stating that he wasn’t talking about Roman. He was talking about ‘his’ boy, CM Punk.

Sami Zayn vs Drew McIntyre

The bell rang as Drew reminded everyone that he was 10-0 against Zayn. The two stars locked horns inside the squared ring, exchanging shots.

McIntyre went for the attack, but Sami used his momentum to send him outside the ring and followed it up with a moonsault onto the concrete floor. The action moved back inside the ring as McIntyre halted Zayn with a double chest chop.

Zayn tried to take control, landing a DDT into the cover, but McIntyre kicked out at two. Zayn, bleeding from his nose, was fired up and rallied the crowd behind him.

McIntyre regained control, measuring Zayn ringside for a Claymore, but Sami ducked underneath, causing Drew to crash onto the announce table. McIntyre and Zayn continued exchanging shots, with Sami taking over and taking down the Scottish Psychopath with a big clothesline.

Sami went to the top rope, but Drew intercepted and joined him. Zayn pulled Drew from his legs, causing him to crash onto the mat. McIntyre retaliated with sheer power.

Drew went for the Claymore, but Zayn ducked under and rolled for the cover. Drew kicked out. Drew went for the attack, but Sami pushed him into the ring post. Zayn went for the Helluva Kick, but Drew ducked and rolled Zayn up, using the ropes for leverage. Drew McIntyre once again defeated Sami Zayn.

McIntyre attacked Zayn after the match, leaving Sami looking helpless. Cody Rhodes darted into the ring to aid Zayn and clashed with Drew, landing the Cody Cutter to take out McIntyre.

Kevin Owens then appeared, and the two stars began brawling. Rhodes and Owens continued fighting as Drew joined in and battered Cody. Zayn once again went for the Helluva Kick on Drew, but, similar to last week, he inadvertently took out Cody in the process. Drew and Owens left the ring, laughing as they made their exit.

Cody Rhodes – CM Punk

The American Nightmare picked himself up and addressed the crowd in his hometown, stating that nobody in WWE had worked as hard as he had. Cody revealed that he was looking forward to the Royal Rumble, where he would defeat Kevin Owens. Suddenly, CM Punk’s music hit, and the Second City Saint appeared.

The Second City Saint stepped into the ring and picked up the mic, asking if Cody was alright, stating that Rhodes was his friend and he cared about him. Punk acknowledged how the World title weighed heavily on someone and shared how he had lost friends because of it.

Rhodes responded that he didn’t have a lot of friends and asked if CM Punk was his friend. Punk replied that he was, explaining that he was here to check on him, not to steal his moment. Punk expressed his love for Rhodes and stated that there were no friends when you were a champion, as you had a target on your back.

Rhodes asked Punk to cut to the chase, wanting to know his prediction, similar to last year. Cody then asked, “What’s next for me?”

Punk replied that he would predict Cody’s life in the near future, cutting a promo for the clash at the Royal Rumble and the media responsibilities that would come with it. He warned that if Cody managed to beat Kevin Owens, there would be more sacrifices ahead for him, with Raw waiting on the other side.

The Second City Saint reminded Cody that someone would win the Royal Rumble, and they would see him at WrestleMania, stating that this was the good news. Rhodes asked if all of that was good news and what the bad news was. Punk replied that the bad news was that the person to win the Rumble and challenge Cody was him.

Punk added that, unlike his friend who stabbed him in the back, he would stab Cody in the front. Cody fired back, stating that the dynamic between the two had completely changed. He wasn’t chasing Punk anymore, Punk was now chasing him, unlike in the early days when Cody started his career.

Cody went to leave, but Punk grabbed him and pulled him back by his jacket, stating that he wasn’t finished. Punk then finished up, saying there was a graveyard of careers who wanted him to catch them, before turning to leave.

Cody pulled Punk back and stated that he wanted him to win the Rumble, only to find out that the “Best in the World” isn’t the best in the world.
