Speculation surrounding Vince McMahon and WWE has resurfaced in a major way.

For months, whispers have circulated suggesting the former chairman, Vince McMahon, could attempt to regain control of the company following his 2024 resignation amid the Janel Grant lawsuit. Now, longtime WWE personality Jonathan Coachman has reignited the debate with bold new claims.

Speaking on the February 23, 2026, episode of The Coach and Bro Show, Coachman alleged that discussions about a potential buyback may already be underway.

Jonathan Coachman’s explosive claims

Coachman asserted that his show has been ahead of the story for some time.

“Everybody’s watching our show because we’re the only ones that have been talking about this for an extended period of time.”

He then escalated the conversation, referencing alleged Saudi interest and early-stage talks involving TKO Group Holdings, the parent company of WWE and UFC.

“It is all over the place that Vince, in a silent wa,y has now started talking with the Saudi to start engaging with TKO about buying the WWE back and he would be somewhat of a silent partner.”

Coachman admitted he was initially doubtful after seeing similar chatter online.

“I saw it on the dirt sheets and I was like, do you really believe it, but then my source reached out to me today, Vince and he confirmed that that is actively going around at the company and around TKO that those talks are starting right now.”

According to Coachman, the concept being floated internally would see Vince McMahon return not as the public-facing executive he once was, but as a “silent partner,” potentially backed by Saudi investment.

It is critical to stress that these claims remain unverified speculation. Neither WWE, TKO Group Holdings, nor Vince McMahon has confirmed any such discussions. Even Sean Ross from Fightful has confirmed there is no truth in the rumor.

Since WWE’s merger with UFC under the TKO banner, the company has operated within a corporate structure vastly different from the McMahon-controlled era. Any attempt to reacquire WWE would involve billions of dollars and complex shareholder negotiations.

If true, the idea of Vince McMahon re-entering the ownership picture, even quietly, would represent one of the most dramatic reversals in modern sports-entertainment business history. For now, however, it remains a rumor fueled by insider chatter rather than documented fact.

Has Vince McMahon officially tried to buy back WWE?

No. There has been no official confirmation from WWE, TKO, or McMahon regarding any buyback attempt.

What did Jonathan Coachman claim?

Coachman alleged that McMahon may be quietly engaging Saudi interests to explore a buyback, potentially as a “silent partner.”
