WWE is bringing back the once popular weekly show
WWE Saturday Night Main Event is making a comeback. The classic show will return later this year, with a special broadcast on both NBC and Peacock on December 14 at 8 p.m. ET.
For anyone interested in attending the WWE Saturday Night Main Event will be held at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York, with tickets on sale to the general public on Friday and pre-sales beginning tomorrow.
These specials will continue to air quarterly as part of WWE’s newest media rights agreement with NBCUniversal, which was inked last year and took effect earlier this month. In addition to the return of the WWE Saturday Night Main Event, the agreement ensured that “WWE SmackDown” made the transition back to the USA Network following a stint on Fox.
Today’s announcement verifies a claim from earlier this month that WWE was bringing back WWE Saturday Night Main Event for the previously announced NBC primetime special. The show initially debuted in 1985 as a series of special events that ran on the network until 1992.
These programs occasionally included important moments to leverage the increased publicity from broadcast television, and they frequently featured Hulk Hogan wrestling in the main event.
More recently, the business reintroduced the brand name in 2022, with a series of WWE Saturday Night Main Event shows planned for that spring.
However, unlike prior editions, these events were not televised. The last television resurrection ran from 2006 to 2008, with a series of five-hour-long specials that aired on NBC.
When & where will be WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event?
WWE has revealed that WWE Saturday Night Main Event will return as a live primetime special airing on NBC on December 14. The show will air live at 10:00 p.m. EST.
In addition, the program will air live on the West Coast from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. PST, rather than on tape delay. The main event on Saturday night will take place at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York, with tickets going on sale to the general public on Friday (September 20, 2024) and pre-sales starting today(September 18, 2024).
