Two champions came face to face!
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event delivered a blockbuster champion-versus-champion clash as Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes went one-on-one with NXT Champion Oba Femi. With Dan Engler officiating, the bout showcased power, resilience, and star-making moments before ending in controversy.
From the opening bell, the atmosphere was electric. A loud “Oba” chant echoed through the arena as Rhodes and Femi circled, locked up, and immediately tested each other’s strength. Femi shoved Rhodes back with authority, earning a look of respect from the champion, while the crowd soon responded by singing Rhodes’ name.
Oba Femi pushes the champion to his limits
Cody Rhodes relied on quick transitions, shifting from side headlocks to hammerlocks, but Oba Femi’s raw power repeatedly turned the tide. The NXT Champion shrugged off tactics, lifted Rhodes with ease, and delivered a thudding Irish Curse Backbreaker. Each exchange made it clear Femi was not overawed by the moment.
Femi dominated stretches of the match, whipping Rhodes into corners and tossing him across the ring. Uppercuts, backbreakers, and scoop slams kept the Undisputed Champion on the defensive, yet Rhodes’s ring IQ helped him survive. A shoulder-first collision with the ring post finally slowed Femi down.
Rhodes capitalized with a snap powerslam and a Cody Cutter that brought the crowd to its feet. However, every surge was met with resistance. Femi cracked Rhodes with spinebusters and a brutal running uppercut over the commentary table, even as Rhodes began bleeding from the ear.
Drew McIntyre sparks a shocking finish
The match reached its peak when Femi attempted a Pop-up Falling Powerbomb, only for Rhodes to escape and hit a spectacular double-springboard Cody Cutter. Just as victory seemed within reach, chaos erupted.
Out of nowhere, Drew McIntyre stormed the ring and attacked Rhodes, forcing referee Dan Engler to call for the bell. The decision handed Rhodes the win by disqualification, but the story didn’t end there.
McIntyre continued his assault until Femi intervened, shoving him down after being poked in the chest. Rhodes then flattened McIntyre with a Cody Cutter, and Femi followed with a thunderous chokeslam.
In a powerful closing visual, Rhodes tossed the NXT Championship back to Femi and raised his hand, signaling mutual respect as both champions posed together.
