Damian Priest & Drew McIntyre wrote a new chapter in their rivalry
With WWE Hall of Famer Jesse “The Body” Ventura joining commentary, Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre clashed inside a steel cage in a punishing and chaotic match. From the start, the match was less about strategy and more about survival.
McIntyre didn’t wait for the bell, attacking Priest before he could even enter the cage. The Scottish Warrior brutalized the World Heavyweight Champion on the outside, tossing him into the barricade and pulling out steel chairs from under the ring. Drew finally tossed Priest inside the cage and slammed the door shut, officially starting the match.
Priest fought back with a heavy right hand, nearly smashing Drew’s face into the cage. McIntyre responded with brutal chops and tried to use the steel to his advantage, but Priest countered with a reverse STO. The two continued to batter each other until the commercial break.
Back from the break, both men were jockeying for position on the ropes. McIntyre gouged at Priest’s face to avoid the Razor’s Edge. Damian crashed to the mat after a missed top-rope attempt, but quickly recovered with a Sick Kick and went for South of Heaven only for Drew to escape. Priest tried climbing out, but McIntyre pulled him back in with a massive superplex!
Drew counted down for the Claymore and nailed it—but it still wasn’t enough. After a wild back-and-forth, McIntyre even hit his own version of South of Heaven, but again, Priest stayed alive. A chair wedged in the corner backfired when Priest sidestepped a Claymore, sending Drew crashing into it. Damian capitalized, slamming the chair into McIntyre and spiking him throat-first with a vicious horsecollar shot.
With McIntyre down, Priest delivered a brutal Con-Chair-To and walked toward the cage door. In a rare show of honor, he paused on the steps, giving Drew one last shot to rise.
Winner: Damian Priest wins by escaping the cage through the door
Post-match, Jesse Ventura didn’t hold back, tearing into the decision to end a steel cage match by walking out the door, calling it a “silly” finish that defies the match’s brutal purpose.
