Gunther retains his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Jey Uso
The WWE Universe was treated to an electrifying main event as “Main Event” Jey Uso challenged Gunther, the reigning WWE World Heavyweight Champion, in a clash of skill, power, and determination. From start to finish, the match delivered drama, near falls and hard-hitting action that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
The match began with both competitors feeling each other out, each move calculated and precise. Gunther, known for his methodical and brutal style, wasted no time asserting his dominance. As Jey Uso climbed to the top rope for an early offensive move, Gunther countered with a thunderous chop that sent Uso crashing to the floor. The devastating strike set the tone as the show went to its first commercial break.
Returning from the break, Gunther was firmly in control, punishing Jey Uso with relentless precision. A knee drop across Jey’s jaw had the challenger reeling, but Uso found an opening with a well-timed Samoan Drop. Fired up by the crowd’s support, Uso began to rally in the corner, only to run into a missile-like dropkick from the Ring General.
Gunther followed up with the Tenryu Powerbomb, a move that has put away countless opponents, but Jey showed his resilience by kicking out to a massive ovation. The back-and-forth action intensified as both men sought to gain the upper hand, with the second commercial break teasing even more drama to come.
Back from the final break, Jey Uso unleashed a flurry of offense, landing right hands and an enzuigiri that staggered the champion. Gunther retaliated with a crushing boot to halt Uso’s momentum, but Jey struck back with a superkick that brought him within milliseconds of victory.
Feeding off the energy of the crowd, Jey Uso delivered an Ode to Rikishi his late-career homage to his legendary family but Gunther refused to stay down. The challenger’s resolve only grew stronger as he scaled the ropes, but Gunther met him at the top, delivering bone-rattling chops. Jey slipped under him and countered with a jaw-dropping Liger Bomb that earned him a near fall so close it left fans gasping.
