The Triple Threat match lived up to expectation
The Triple Threat Match for the World Heavyweight Championship brought a big fight feel as WWE presented a Tale of the Tape graphic, setting the stage for this epic clash. Gunther, the reigning World Heavyweight Champion, faced off against two members of The Judgment Day: Finn Bálor and Damian Priest.
Finn Bálor entered with JD McDonagh, but McDonagh quickly returned backstage, leaving Bálor to go it alone. A replay from last Monday’s Raw highlighted The Judgment Day’s vicious attack on both Gunther and Priest, adding fuel to the fire.
As the bell rang, the action was chaotic from the start. Priest charged at Finn Bálor, who evaded him and tried to capitalize on Gunther. Priest and Gunther temporarily worked together to fend off Bálor before turning their focus on each other. Priest sent Gunther to the floor with a kick and followed up with a breathtaking somersault senton that nearly came up short.
Back in the ring, Bálor and Priest exchanged blows, only for Gunther to return with boots for both challengers. Finn Bálor rallied with a Pele Kick, but Priest took control with a double clothesline. The intensity escalated as Gunther and Priest exchanged thunderous chops and strikes. Priest showcased his athleticism with a rope-walk crossbody on Gunther, followed by a devastating reverse STO on Bálor for a near fall.
Gunther applied the Gojira Clutch on Bálor, but Priest broke it up, sparking a heated sequence where all three men exchanged brutal moves. Priest hit Gunther with South of Heaven, but before he could capitalize, Bálor struck Priest with his inverted headlock elbow drop and a shotgun dropkick.
As Finn Bálor went for the Coup de Grâce, Gunther crotched him on the top rope. Priest took advantage, delivering a Razor’s Edge to Gunther, but Bálor nearly sealed the victory with the Coup de Grâce, only for Priest to break it up at the last second.
Priest hit South of Heaven on Bálor, but Gunther dragged him outside, locking in the Gojira Clutch and delivering punishing overhead elbows. In a decisive moment, Gunther powerbombed Priest onto the steel steps, neutralizing him.
Gunther retains
Back in the ring, Gunther connected with a shotgun dropkick on Bálor before delivering his devastating Tenryu Powerbomb for the win. Gunther retained the World Heavyweight Championship in an unforgettable match, solidifying his dominance as the unstoppable Ring General.
