WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event 2024 Results & Winners: Kevin Owens delivers a piledriver to Cody Rhodes; Chelsea Green creates history & more

Cody Rhodes retains, Gunther & Liv Morgan retain, Drew McIntyre wins & more!
WWE brought back one of its most iconic events, Saturday Night’s Main Event, to primetime television after a 16-year hiatus.
This historic comeback featured a blockbuster main event. Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defended his title against Kevin Owens in what promised to be a fierce showdown. The event also featured three additional title matches and a grudge match between Sami Zayn and Drew McIntyre.
The event aired live from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York, marking the first Saturday Night’s Main Event under WWE’s new five-year domestic media rights partnership with NBCUniversal.

SNME Summary and Highlights
WWE legend Jesse Ventura was in the building after 40 years for SNME 2024, and he joined Joe Tessitore in the commentary booth.
Pat McAfee returned as the special guest commentator for SNME. Pat joined Michael Cole in the commentary booth as they geared up for the title matches from New York.
Sami Zayn vs Drew McIntyre
Zayn attacked Drew as the bell rang, and McIntyre retaliated as the two clashed outside the ring. Zayn landed a moonsault, taking out Drew. The action returned to the ring as Drew fired back, and the fight went outside again as Zayn attacked from the top rope.
McIntyre caught him and sent Zayn over to the commentary table as they rolled into commercials. Back from commercials, McIntyre was in control as he brutalized Zayn with chest chops. Sami rallied back as he attacked from the top rope, taking out the Scottish Warrior.
Drew retaliated, but Zayn ducked, causing McIntyre to crash shoulder-first into the ring post. Drew landed a spinebuster and sitdown powerbomb and tried to bag the victory, but Zayn kicked out in both instances.
Drew took Zayn onto the top rope as he looked for White Noise, but Zayn turned into a sunset flip powerbomb, and Drew crashed into the mat. One, two! Drew kicked out. Drew went for the Claymore, but Zayn fired back with a Blue Thunder Bomb and went for the cover. McIntyre kicked out again.
“This is Awesome” chants filled the arena as Zayn rallied the crowd. Drew rolled outside the ring, and Sami followed him. Drew rolled back in.
Sami stepped into the ring, and McIntyre greeted him with a brutal Claymore. One, two, three! Drew McIntyre won the first match of the evening.
Liv Morgan vs Iyo Sky – Women’s World Title Match
The bell rang as the match began. The two stars exchanged blows as Sky went for an early cover, and the champion kicked out. Back from commercials, Sky was in control of the match as she rallied the crowd and went for a suicide dive, taking out Morgan. Back inside the ring, the challenger took out Morgan with double missile dropkicks.
Morgan landed a codebreaker to seal the victory, and Sky kicked out at two. Iyo was in control again as she landed three German Suplexes and went for the cover, but Liv kicked out at two.
Sky went to the top rope as she looked for the finish. Morgan pushed the challenger outside. Sky jumped to the top rope once again as she hunted for the finish.
Sky went for the moonsault from the top rope, but Liv raised her boot to land the Oblivion and bag the victory. Liv Morgan retained her title in the second match of the evening in New York!
After the match, Morgan celebrated her victory with Raquel as Rhea Ripley‘s music hit, and she made her way down the entrance ramp. Morgan and Rhea came face-to-face, setting up a potential title clash in the future.
Gunther vs Finn Balor vs Damian Priest – World Heavyweight Title Match
The bell rang as the triple-threat match got underway. Priest was in control early as he cleared the ring and went over the top rope, taking out the champion. Back from commercials, the triple-threat title match continued, with Balor and Priest battling inside the ring as the champion entered, taking out both challengers with big boots.
Gunther applied a Boston Crab on Priest as Balor landed a chest chop, which only angered the champion, who fired back.
Priest took out both with a double clothesline. Damian was in control as he attacked Gunther and Balor simultaneously. Balor landed a Slingblade on Priest as Gunther tried to attack but ate a Slingblade from Balor.
Gunther locked Priest in a sleeper hold and landed brutal elbows to tighten the hold again. Priest tried to fight back as he rallied to his feet. Priest landed South of Heaven and a chokeslam on Gunther as Balor entered, taking out Priest.
Balor went up top to land the Coup de Grâce, but Gunther interrupted as he himself went to the top rope. Priest intervened and landed a Razor’s Edge on Gunther as Balor capitalized, landing the Coup de Grâce. Balor looked for the cover, but Priest broke it up.
Priest landed South of Heaven and a chokeslam on Balor as he went for the cover. The champion dragged Priest outside the ring.
Gunther landed a powerbomb through the steel steps on Priest, flatlining the former champion. Gunther stepped into the ring and landed a brutal powerbomb on Balor, going for the cover.
‘The Ring General’ Gunther retained his Heavyweight title in the triple-threat match at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Chelsea Green vs Michin – Women’s United States Championship
The bell rang as the match got underway, with Piper Niven at ringside as Green and Michin clashed for the inaugural title. Michin and Green battled on the edge of the ring.
Niven got involved as she took out Michin outside the ring with a powerbomb. Back from commercials, Michin landed multiple German Suplexes and went for the cover, but Green kicked out at two.
Green went for a suicide dive, but Michin ducked, causing Chelsea to crash into Niven. Piper caught Green, avoiding any damage.
Michin landed “Eat, Sleep, Defeat” on Green and went for the cover, but Green somehow managed to lift her foot up onto the rope to break the cover.
Michin took Green to the top rope as Niven intervened, Michin took out Niven and shifted her attention back to Green.
Green capitalized on the distraction as she landed the Unprettier to bag the victory. Chelsea Green became the inaugural Women’s United States Champion!
Cody Rhodes vs Kevin Owens – Undisputed WWE Championship
Jessy Ventura joined Michael Cole and Pat McAfee in the commentary booth for the main event clash between the two former friends.
The bell rang as Rhodes charged, but Owens rolled out of the ring. The WWE official started the count as he warned KO, who was glaring at the ‘Winged Eagle Title’.
KO stepped into the ring, only to roll out again. Rhodes followed him and attacked the challenger. Owens then fired back, dropping Rhodes onto the commentary desk in Randy Orton’s style. KO looked into the camera, addressed the Viper, and said, “Hi Randy!”
Back from the commercials, Owens was in control as he landed a Swanton from the top rope. KO went for the cover, but the champion kicked out at two.
Kevin and Rhodes exchanged punches in the middle of the ring. Cody rallied back as he landed a disaster kick, trying for the pin. Cody climbed to the top rope, but Kevin rolled out of the ring once again. Rhodes followed, only to eat a kick from the challenger.
Owens cleared the announcer’s desk as he looked to attack, but Cody landed an RKO, taking down Owens. Back in the ring, Rhodes landed a Cody Cutter and went for the cover, but KO somehow kicked out at two.
Owens landed a Fisherman’s Buster from the top rope, taking down the champion, and went for the cover. Rhodes managed to kick out at two. Owens went for the Stunner, but Cody ducked. KO pushed Rhodes, causing him to crash into the official.
KO landed the Stunner and went for the cover, but there was no official for the pin. The second official rushed into the ring as KO went for the cover, but Rhodes kicked out at two. The champion went for the Cody Cutter, but Owens ducked, causing Rhodes to crash into the official.
Owens went outside and brought a chair into the ring, but Cody retaliated with a Cutter and followed it up with a ‘Cross Rhodes’. Official Jessie Robinson managed to pick himself up to make the pin.
One, two, three! Cody Rhodes defended his title against Kevin Owens in the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event!
After SNME went off the air, Owens attacked Rhodes and delivered a brutal package piledriver to Cody, flatlining the champion as he took the “Winged Eagle Title” with him.
Audience videos from the arena show WWE COO Triple H confronting Owens near the entrance ramp. The two got into a huge fight, and WWE security and officials had to intervene to diffuse the situation.
