Rhea Ripley (c) vs Nia Jax – Women’s World Championship
Nia Jax wasted no time, dropping the champion with a headbutt during the announcements. When the bell rang, the champion fired back, taking down the challenger ringside with a cannonball.
In the closing moments of the match, Jax went for the Annihilator, but Ripley countered it into a powerbomb. Jax climbed to the second rope again, but Rhea drove the challenger outside and took her out with a crossbody.
Back inside the ring, Jax landed the Annihilator from the second rope and went for a second one, but Ripley intercepted, landing the electric chair. Ripley then hit the Riptide, made the cover, and retained the Women’s World title against Nia Jax in the first match of the evening.
Bron Breakker (c) vs Sheamus – WWE Intercontinental Championship
The Celtic Warrior took control early, softening the champion with punches and elbows. Breakker fired back, going supersonic and taking down Sheamus. The action spilled outside, where Bron went for the spear, but Sheamus intercepted and sent the champion crashing into the timekeeper’s area.
Sheamus attempted a crossbody from the steel steps, but Bron intercepted with a brutal mid-air spear. Breakker then targeted the ribs of the Celtic Warrior, while Sheamus fought through the pain, mocking Breakker in defiance.
In the closing moments of the IC title match, Sheamus picked Breakker up and hit the Celtic Cross, going for the cover, but Breakker kicked out.
Breakker retaliated with a slam and went for the cover, but Sheamus stayed in the match. The champion then measured Sheamus for the spear, but the Celtic Warrior turned it into a Brogue Kick, into the cover. Breakker managed to put his foot on the ropes just in time.
Sheamus called for another Brogue Kick, but his ribs gave out. Breakker took advantage, delivering a brutal spear, into the cover. One, two, three—Bron Breakker retained the Intercontinental title!
Shawn Michaels made his walk in front of his hometown crowd for the contract signing between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. Michaels picked up the mic and expressed how happy he was to be back home in San Antonio.
He then revealed that he had one job to do tonight which was to get the contract signed. HBK announced the entry of Kevin Owens, the Prizefighter, as he made his way to the ring with the Winged Eagle title in hand for the contract signing.
Contract signing between Cody Rhodes & Kevin Owens moderated by Shawn Michaels
Cody Rhodes stepped into the ring, coming face-to-face with Kevin Owens. Shawn Michaels picked up the mic and asked both of them to take a seat.
Rhodes and Owens continued sizing each other up as Shawn moved things along with the introduction, once again urging them to sign the contract. The American Nightmare was the first to sign, waiting for Owens to follow suit.
Owens looked over the contract, then picked up the mic, stating that Cody was wrong the night before when he said KO took the easy way. Rhodes fired back, saying he wasn’t here to justify the past, and neither had Shawn Michaels returned to listen to him.
Cody then asked Owens to sign the contract, but Owens replied that he would shut down everyone who says he isn’t the champion. Once he wins the title at the Royal Rumble PLE, everything Cody has will be coming to him!
Michaels intervened, stating that Owens just sounded jealous. Owens couldn’t believe his ears and asked what HBK had said. Michaels repeated his words, and KO immediately went off on him, finally signing the contract in frustration. Shawn then called for a referee, who asked both men to relinquish their titles, which would be hung up high for the ladder match next week.
The titles were raised as Michaels cut a promo for the Undisputed WWE Title clash between Rhodes and Owens at the Royal Rumble PLE. Shawn offered a handshake, but Owens refused. Michaels then embraced Rhodes, only for Owens to attack the champion.
Michaels confronted him, but KO was unhinged, attacking the legend and going for the package piledriver. However, Rhodes intervened with a kick, and in a moment of vintage Shawn Michaels, he took out Kevin Owens with the iconic Sweet Chin Music!
Braun Strowman vs Jacob Fatu
The two giants locked horns as Strowman took control early, knocking Fatu out of the ring. Strowman went for another attack, but Fatu pulled down the ropes, causing Braun to crash outside the ring. Fatu then took out Strowman with a suicide dive through the ropes.
The two exchanged shots in the middle of the ring, with Strowman regaining control of the match. The action spilled outside as the Strowman Express ran down Fatu. A second trip of the Strowman Express knocked Fatu through the announcer’s desk.
Strowman went for a third trip, but Fatu fired back, dropping Braun on the announcer’s desk and following it up by pushing him onto the steel steps. Inside the ring, Fatu landed back-to-back multiple hip attacks. The referee tried to intervene, but Fatu shoved him outside and continued the assault, leaving Strowman looking concussed.
The match ended in disqualification as Fatu brought a steel chair into the ring. Security tried to intervene, but they ate a steel chair for their troubles.
The security and officials tried to diffuse the situation and get things under control, but Fatu climbed to the top rope, aiming to land a moonsault on the bloodied Strowman. SmackDown’s General Manager Nick Aldis also entered the ring, attempting to calm Fatu down.
Despite the efforts to stop him, Fatu hit another moonsault from the top rope. Medical staff quickly darted in to check on Strowman, who was bleeding badly. But Fatu once again climbed the rope, preparing for a third moonsault, continuing the chaos.
Gunther (c) vs Jey Uso – World Heavyweight Championship
The bell rang, and Gunther wasted no time, landing a brutal boot on Jey. The Ring General took control early, slamming Jey onto the mat and following it up with a devastating chop. Jey fought back with multiple elbows, trying to regain some momentum.
Jey continued the assault, but Gunther quickly reversed it, taking control once again. Jey, however, lifted Gunther and landed a Samoan drop, buying himself some time in the main event.
The crowd rallied behind Jey as he went for another attack, but the champion landed a boot and followed it up with a powerbomb. He went for the cover, but Jey refused to quit!
Jey rallied back with multiple elbows, but Gunther responded with a German suplex, looking to finish the match. However, Jey fired back with a superkick, into the cover, but Gunther kicked out. Jey hit a hip attack and went for another cover, but the champion kicked out again as the main event raged on.
Jey climbed to the top rope, but Gunther intercepted, landing thundering chest chops. The champion climbed up and looked for a superplex, but Jey slipped underneath, landing a sit-down powerbomb and going for the cover. Gunther kicked out once more.
The arena erupted with “This is Awesome!” chants as Jey landed a spear and went for the cover, but to everyone’s surprise, the champion kicked out again.
Another superkick from Jey followed by a spear, and now Jey was on the top rope. He landed the Uso’s splash, into the cover, but Gunther kicked out at the perfect moment!
The arena erupted with “Yeet!” chants as Gunther reversed Jey’s next attack into two brutal power bombs. He went for the cover—one, two, three—and Gunther retained the World Heavyweight title in the main event of Saturday Night’s Main Event!
