John Cena vs Brock Lesnar is rumoured to headline the Wrestlepalooza PLE!

As per earlier reports, WWE was planning a PLE for September in Indianapolis, Indiana, which would likely be headlined by the clash between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. New reports have provided more information about the reported PLE from the Stamford-based promotion.

Additionally, throughout 2025, WWE has counter-programmed several of AEW’s major pay-per-views with NXT premium live events. The planned show on September 20 is the exact same day as AEW All Out in Toronto.

The event marks the return of the classic ECW PPV

According to a report from Wrestlevotes on X, WWE will revive the “Wrestlepalooza” name for its yet-to-be-announced premium live event on September 20, 2025. As mentioned, this will go head-to-head with AEW’s All Out.

The name Wrestlepalooza was originally used for an ECW event series that ran from 1995 to 2000. Its most prominent edition was the 1998 pay-per-view, headlined by Shane Douglas defending the ECW World Heavyweight Championship against Al Snow. With WWE owning all ECW footage and intellectual property, reviving the brand is legally simple.

While in recent times multiple WWE shows and PLEs have collided with AEW’s PPVs, this will be the first occasion a WWE main roster PLE will take place on the same day as an AEW pay-per-view.

The Stamford-based promotion has intensified its counter-programming against AEW’s major events in 2025. AEW’s last two PPVs, Double or Nothing in May and last month’s All In Texas, went head-to-head with NXT PLEs, Battleground, and Great American Bash, respectively.

Additionally, the July date featured a main roster Saturday Night’s Main Event airing on NBC, which overlapped with All In. NXT Heatwave and AEW Forbidden Door are also scheduled for August 24, ramping up the counter-programming tactics.

AEW All Out 2025 will be held outside the United States for the first time

The 2025 edition of the All Out PPV will emanate from Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and will mark the first time the show will be held outside the United States. The PPV will follow the upcoming Forbidden Door PPV, which is set for August 24.

The 2025 edition of Forbidden Door is, as usual, co-produced by All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), and is set to emanate in August for the first time and the first to take place outside North America.

The fourth edition of the show is scheduled for Sunday, August 24, 2025, at The O2 Arena in London, England, during the United Kingdom’s August Bank Holiday weekend.

What PLE is WWE reportedly planning for September?

According to a report from Wrestlevotes on X, WWE will revive the “Wrestlepalooza” name for its yet-to-be-announced premium live event on September 20, 2025.

Will Wrestlepalooza go head-to-head with AEW programming?

Yes, All Elite Wrestling is gearing up to deliver the 2025 edition of All Out on September 20, which will now go head-to-head with Wrestlepalooza PLE.
