WWE SmackDown (December 20, 2024): Spoilers & Results

WWE SmackDown had some interesting match segments
To give the WWE roster some extra time off over the impending Christmas season, next week’s episode of SmackDown was recorded last night at the XL Center in Hartford after the December 13 program went off broadcast. This implies that we already have some fascinating SmackDown spoilers, after Saturday Night’s Main Event tonight.
Kevin Owens will challenge Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship tonight on WWE PLE, but it appears like their rivalry will not be concluded at Saturday Night’s Main Event. On next week’s SmackDown, Owens will once again make a promo from his car, which has become a recent trend for him, resulting in yet another altercation between Owens and Rhodes.
The New Bloodline will compete in a 6-man tag team match against LA Knight, Andrade, and Apollo Crews. This follows the chaos that erupted following Knight and Solo Sikoa’s singles battle last night, which Knight eventually won by disqualification due to Jacob Fatu involvement. While the New Bloodline will win next week, it will do little to end Sikoa’s dismal singles defeat streak.
WWE SmackDown (December 20, 2024) match card & segments
- The Bloodline & Drew McIntyre storyline builds
- The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga) vs LA Knight, Andrade & Apollo Crews
- Kevin Owens cuts a promo on Cody Rhodes

The Bloodline & Drew McIntyre storyline builds
The Bloodline delivered a fiery promo, asserting their dominance, but Drew McIntyre interrupted, confronting the group head-on. As tensions escalated and the faction closed in, McIntyre strategically retreated through the crowd, leaving the Bloodline furious and the audience buzzing with anticipation for their next encounter.
The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu & Tama Tonga) vs LA Knight, Andrade & Apollo Crews
The Bloodline (Solo Sikoa, Jacob Fatu, and Tama Tonga) faced LA Knight, Andrade, and Apollo Crews. The Bloodline didn’t won the match as the match ended in a count-out or disqualification.
Kevin Owens cuts promo on Cody Rhodes
Ahead of their highly anticipated clash at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Kevin Owens and Cody Rhodes traded heated words on WWE SmackDown.
The segment opened with Cody ready to reveal a special gold gift from Triple H. However, Kevin Owens interrupted via a video message from his car, a signature move for “KO.” Owens didn’t hold back, labeling Cody a bad friend, son, and husband while taking shots at his past Stardust persona, sarcastically claiming it was “way more interesting.”
With Owens’ cutting a promo on December 20 episode this suggests that Saturday Night’s Main Event is just the beginning of their intense rivalry.
Braun Strowman vs Carmelo Hayes
After taking a tough loss from Braun Strowman on the latest edition of SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes got the chance to take his revenge against Braun Strowman as he beat the Monster among men just the next week in the pre-taped edition of SmackDown.
Johnny Gargano vs Alex Shelley
After a huge betrayal from Johnny Gargano, onne half of MCMG Alex Shelley looked to take his revenge on Johnny Gargano after he used cheap means to win the WWE Tag Team championship from them. But, again Gargano came on top this week.
Bianca Belair & Naomi vs Nia Jax & Candice LeRae (WWE Women’s tag team champion)
In a hard-fought battle, Bianca Belair and Naomi successfully defended their Women’s Tag Team Championship against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae. Despite the challengers’ best efforts, the reigning champs managed to retain their titles. It remains to be seen who will step up as the next contenders for the Women’s Tag Team Championship.
