The August 22 episode of SmackDown aired live from Dublin, Ireland!

On the road to Clash in Paris, WWE arrived in Ireland for this week’s show of SmackDown. The August 22 episode of Friday Night SmackDown aired live from the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland. This was the first show of WWE in Europe ahead of Clash in Paris.

The show featured an appearance from John Cena, who was confronted by Logan Paul, leading to a heated exchange between the two, which ended with Cena taking out Paul. Paul retaliated at the end of the show, knocking out Cena when GM Nick Aldis was about to tell him about his conversation with Brock Lesnar.

Randy Orton returned during Drew McIntyre’s rant about Cody Rhodes and took him out with an RKO. Furthermore, Damian Priest returned to attack Aleister Black, who was initially set to face R-Truth, but the latter accidentally travelled to Dublin, Georgia instead of Dublin, Ireland.

In the main event of the show, the team of Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill defeated Becky Lynch and Nia Jax. The promotion announced multiple matches for next week’s show, which will serve as the go-home show for the upcoming Clash in Paris.

Two titles will be contested on the go-home show

During the show, Solo Sikoa’s MFTs (JC Mateo & Tonga Loa) were battling the Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) when Talla Tonga started interfering. Jimmy Uso took out Talla while Sami Zayn appeared, taking out Solo with a helluva kick.

The two stars are now set to collide next week, where Sikoa’s United States title will be on the line. On the other hand, with the win, the Street Profits are now set for a #1 Contenders match against Melo Don’t Miz (The Miz & Carmelo Hayes), who defeated Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) to secure the spot.

One-half of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Charlotte Flair, suffered defeat at the hands of Piper Niven in the absence of her tag partner, Alexa Bliss, who was not medically cleared to compete. The tag Champions are now set to defend the Tag title against Chelsea Green’s Secret Hervice (Piper Niven & Alba Fyre).

The August 29 go-home show of WWE SmackDown is set to air live from the LDLC Arena in Lyon, France. This will be the final show of WWE ahead of Clash in Paris.
