MCMG debuts, Jey Uso appears, The Bloodline vs Roman Reigns saga, Cody Rhodes calls out Gunther & much more!

The October 18, 2024 episode of Friday Night SmackDown from the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina, is officially over. The show featured a number of interesting matches and segments featuring some of the company’s big stars. Get to know what happened this Friday, as we have the complete summary, highlights, results, and winner’s list for the 10/18 episode of WWE SmackDown.

WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights

‘Main Event’ Jey Uso on SmackDown

Jey Uso surprised the WWE universe with his SmackDown appearance. The Intercontinental Champion stepped into the ring and addressed the new Bloodline. Jey addressed Sikoa and asked him to consider his recent actions and their effect on the family and the Bloodline. Jey advised him against dividing the family.

Sikoa refused the claim of dividing the family and stated that he was uniting the family. Sikoa also warna Jey to not call him his little brother but acknowledge him as ‘The Tribal Chief’.

OTC chants once again fill the arena as Jey stares down Jacob Fatu. Jey tells Sikoa that the next time they meet, “It’s going to be different.’

Triple Threat Tag Team Qualifying Match- DIY vs The Street Profits vs Pretty Deadly

The Street Profits made their entrance to face the DIY and Pretty Deadly team. Flying actions started the triple threat action between Ciampa almost pinned Montez Ford after catching him with a knee in mid-air.

Ford wiped out everyone from the ring and went for a high-flying action, and The Street Profits delivered a Doomsday blockbuster. However, DIY and The Street Profutrss both pinned Wilson and Price at the same time. Amid the confusion, the team of DIY was announced as the winner because Kit Wilson was the official fighter in the ring.

Backstage

Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso arrived in the arena. Jey Uso came face to face with Jimmy and Reigns.

Roman stated that he and the family are proud of Jey and his accomplishments but reiterated his position on joining forces with Jey, and said ‘No Yeet’.

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis told Nia Jax that the tag team fight against Bayley and Naomi was not canceled and she had to find a partner if Tiffany Stratton was injured. Candice LeRae stepped in as Jax’s tag team partner for the fight later.

Piper Niven vs Lash Legend

Niven and Legend clashed in the middle of the ring to start the fight with both delivering powerbomb on each other. The Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill were present in the crowd as in-ring action between Niven and Legend continued.

In the closing moments of the fight, Legend picked up Piper with ease to everyone’s surprise, and power bombed her to bag one of the biggest wins of her career.

Backstage

The OTC” Roman Reigns and Jimmy Uso started talking about the prospect of reuniting with Jey Uso. Roman stated that he gave Jimmy a shot to patch things up with Jey now he is going to do things his way.

Roman said that he was going to fix things and ‘acknowledge Solo!’

Cody Rhodes

WWE showed a shot of the newly unveiled Crown Jewel Championship placed inside the ring as WWE Unsidputed Champion Cody Rhodes made his entrance.

Rhodes discussed his upcoming fight against WWE Heavyweight Champion Gunther at Crown Jewel for the inaugural Crown Jewel Title and said that he isn’t scared of Gunther. Rhodes stated her daughter is the motivation for his upcoming fight at Crown Jewel.

Rhodes also sent an invitation to Gunther for the next week on SmackDown and said that he wants to ask Gunther what he wants to talk about, ‘Hey Champ! What do you wanna talk about?’

Kevin Owens & Randy Orton saga

WWE released Owens’ video in the video Kevin Owens tried to state his frustration with WWE after he was suspended due to the attack on Cody Rhodes after Bad Blood 2024 PLE. Owens vented his frustration with the management and his disbelief with Orton.

Owens said he was unable to believe that Orton whom he considered a friend picked Rhodes over him in this feud. Owens ended the video by saying that he is not sure if he will be back.

Backstage, Randy Orton asked SmackDown GM Nick Aldis for a match against Kevin Owens at Crown Jewel 2024. Aldis said that he can’t do that as the decision is coming from up above. Orton then stated that he knows who to talk to as he wants to get his hands on Owens badly.

Triple Threat tag team qualifying match- A Town Down Under vs Los Garza vs MCMG

Motor City Machine Guns (MCMG) makes their much anticipated WWE debut amid much fanfare. The bell rings and Garza and Waller go after Chris Sabin.

In the final moments of the fight, Theory cuts Humberto off with an elbow. Amid the action in-rin Alex tags himself in and it’s a splash onto a neckbreaker. Alex goes for the cover to bag the win in their debut.

MCMG will face DIY next week on SmakcDown. The winner will face the Tag Team Champion held by The Bloodline, made up of Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa.

Backstage

Byron Saxton was backstage with Andrade and Carmelo Hayes. Andrade and Hayes started bickering and got into a physical altercation. WWE security along with GM Nick Aldis stopped any further escalations.

Bayley & Naomi vs Candice LeRae & Nia Jax

Nia and Bayley started the fight as Jax slammed Bayley with a right hand. Candice was tagged in but Bayley landed a forearm on Candice followed by a snapmare.

In the ending sequence of the fight, Candice distracted the referee which gave Indi Hartwell a chance to interfere as she threw Bayley into the ring post. Candice then landed a moon sault off the second rope and won the match by pinfall.

Nia Jax stepped into the ring confused as to what happened but celebrated her win afterwards.

Backstage

SmackDown GM Nick Aldis is interviewed by Byron Saxton backstage. Aldis announced LA Knight as a special guest referee for the Andrade vs Hayes fight next week.

Knight took the mic accepted the special guest referee job and talked about how he’s gonna call it down the middle and then beat the winner and retain the title.

Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa

Amid chants of ‘OTC’ Roman told the fans to acknowledge him for maybe the last time. Solo Sikoa music hits as he came out in the arena. Sikoa stepped into the ring and said that he had told Jey that the family was stronger. Regins disagreed and said that he did not see anything that suggests they are better off now.

Solo laughed at Reigns’ comments and said that all Roman has to do is acknowledge him. Reigns said that he acknowledged Solo and asked him if that acknowledgment made him feel better.

Sikoa told Roman that it was not good enough as he had to acknowledge him as his Tribal Chief. The fans immediately start chanting ‘NO’ as Sikoa warned Roman again to acknowledge him. Roman looked at Solo and yelled ‘Or else what?’

Solo then snapped his finger and in came the rogue Bloodline holding Jimmy Uso. Sikoa then tried to take out Reigns but The OTC saw it coming and threw Sikoa outside the ring. The Bloodline walked in to attack Reigns but The OTC knocked them down and landed a close line on Jacob Fatu. Sikoa was hit with a Superman punch.Reigns grabbed the ula fala and as he was about to wear it, Sikoa hit with a low blow. The Bloodline then stomped on him and beat him up. Jacob Fatu hits The OTC with a jumping DDT. Solo hit Roman with two Samoan Spike. The Bloodline stood tall in the ring as SmackDown went off the air.
