WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights
It’s Tiffy Time

Tiffany Stratton opened the show by reflecting on her title loss in November, which came after a record-setting rookie year. She then turned her attention to Elimination Chamber, confidently stating that she was entering the match with every intention of winning.
Nia Jax interrupted, accompanied by Lash Legend, drawing heavy boos from the crowd. The pair claimed Tiffany had gotten lucky the previous night. Stratton fired back, questioning why Nia seemed so obsessed with her and even went as far as bringing in a “replacement.”
Legend warned Tiffany, calling herself the true upgrade. She added that once they defeated Rhiyo for the Tag Team Titles later that night, Nia would go on to win her qualifier the following week and pin Tiffany faster than she could say, “It’s Tiffy Time!” Nia then suggested they could settle things immediately.
Before she and Lash could step forward, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky made their way in. Ripley cautioned Tiffany, Nia, and Lash against getting ahead of themselves, declaring that none of them would be leaving Elimination Chamber victorious because she would be in the match, and soon, Iyo would be as well.
She added that she and Iyo would work together until only one of them remained. Ripley closed by reminding Nia and Lash about the Women’s Tag Team Championship match, which started shortly.
Grade: D
Insights & Backstage Moments:
- This segment felt like a filler and could’ve easily been a backstage segment. The promos to hype up the Chamber PLE also fell flat.
Rhea Ripley & Iyo Sky (c) vs Nia Jax & Lash Legend – WWE Women’s Tag Team title match
For the second week in a row, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky defended the Women’s Tag Team titles against Nia Jax and Lash Legend. However, the match ended in a no-contest as the action spilled ringside despite multiple warnings from official Charles Robinson. Iyo took out Nia with a dive through the table near the announce desk, while Legend took out Ripley with a spear through the barricade.
Winner: No-contest
Grade: B+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Another great match, despite the outcome, to prove once again how deep the women’s tag division truly is.
- In a backstage interview with Cathy Kelly, Cody Rhodes spoke about the Elimination Chamber qualifiers and the weight surrounding the opportunity. He explained that he had several ways he could approach the moment and acknowledged the outside noise as well, noting that fans were reacting in real time, anticipating chaos between him, Jacob Fatu, and Sami Zayn. He admitted that the pressure continued to mount, the expectations growing louder by the minute, noting that he was just two victories away from once again headlining WrestleMania.
- Backstage, Carmelo Hayes crossed paths with Matt Cardona and Apollo Crews. Crews and Cardona tease coming after the US title, prompting Hayes to reveal that the opportunity was available every Friday, but is closed tonight. After moving on, Hayes turned a corner and encountered The Miz. The A-Lister scolded him for what he viewed as a lack of respect and vowed to teach him a lesson. The segment then cut to a commercial break.
- In a video promo, Aleister Black praised Randy Orton for his showing the previous week, saying it brought back the intensity and edge reminiscent of Orton’s 2009 run. However, he questioned how that same fire would hold up if Orton found himself standing across the ring from Cody Rhodes. Zelina then shifted the focus to her own upcoming qualifier. She addressed Alexa Bliss and Giulia directly, expressing confidence in her chances and vowing to secure the win, signaling that a new era was on the horizon.
Carmelo, Dragunov, Nakamura, Crews & Cardona vs Solo Sikoa’s MFT – 10-man tag team match
Carmelo Hayes reflected on his 48-day reign as United States Champion, saying he had worked to restore honor and prestige to the title, much like the champions who came before him. He added that holding the championship had earned him a path to WrestleMania, teasing that he might even take a shot at the main event.
Hayes then revealed that he would compete in an Elimination Chamber qualifier the following week, but said that for now, he owed Ilja Dragunov an opportunity. He called out “The Mad Dragon,” who made his way to the ring for a rematch. Before the bout could begin, Solo Sikoa walked out alongside the MFTs.
Solo declared that Dragunov had already lost twice and did not deserve another chance, insisting that the line for a title opportunity started with him. Dragunov fired back, reminding Solo that his own family had left him high and dry during the qualifiers the week before. Solo responded with a warning, suggesting Ilja could end up suffering the same fate as Wyatt Sicks.
Ilja then proposed turning the situation into a tag team match, and Hayes added that he would not mind leaving with two championships. Solo mocked the pair before signaling the MFTs to attack. The numbers quickly overwhelmed Hayes and Dragunov.
Apollo Crews and Matt Cardona rushed out to even the odds, but they too were outmatched. Moments later, Shinsuke Nakamura sprinted to the ring, dropping Tonga Loa and sending Talla Tonga tumbling to the outside. General Manager Nick Aldis then appeared and announced that the situation would be settled in a Texas ten-man tag team match: the MFTs versus Hayes, Dragunov, Cardona, Crews, and Nakamura.
The match got underway immediately. The chaotic match ended with Tama Tonga pinning Hayes after delivering the cut throat. The lights went out in the arena after the match, with the Wyatt Sicks appearing in the crowd stands.
Winner: Solo Sikoa’s MFTs
Grade: B
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- This was Apollo Crews first in-ring appearance on the main roster since January 2025, when he was forced out of action due to a torn pec.
- Talla Tonga and JC Mateo are two of the most underutilised members of the faction, as well as of the Blue brand roster.
- A video package aired highlighting the tension between Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair during the Royal Rumble. Later backstage, Charlotte approached Bliss and offered an apology. Alexa brushed it off, pointing out that she had not been the one to eliminate Flair; Nia Jax had. Charlotte then playfully asked Alexa to be her “Galentine,” presenting her with black roses and a signed photo of herself. Bliss responded that none of that was necessary, reminding Flair that it was every woman for herself. Charlotte, however, said her real gift for the night would be taking a seat at ringside to cheer Bliss on.
Alexa Bliss vs Giulia vs Zelina – Women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match
In the third women’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match, Alexa Bliss, Giulia, and Zelina all battled to join Rhea Ripley and Tiffany Strattion in the match on February 28. Despite interference from Kiana James, Giulia was unable to secure the pin, as Bliss intercepted Zelina, who was focused on Giulia, to deliver the Sister Abigail DDT to win the qualifying match.
Winner: Alexa Bliss
Grade: C+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Backstage before the match, Damian Priest and R-Truth were in a meeting with Nick Aldis, where the General Manager informed Priest that he was scheduled to compete in an Elimination Chamber qualifying match next week. The conversation was interrupted by Kit Wilson, who stormed in to air his grievances over the beating he had taken from Oba Femi. He sarcastically remarked that it was fortunate he preferred using words instead of fists, then proceeded to recite a scathing poem directed at Aldis. Truth responded in kind, delivering his own playful rhyme about Oba laying Wilson out and taking jabs at his toughness and his ‘camel toe’. Unimpressed, Wilson labeled the group “toxic” before angrily walking off.
- Backstage, Tiffany Stratton crossed paths with Jordynne Grace, and the two shared a moment of mutual respect. Stratton mentioned that she would not be opposed to seeing Grace capture the championship later that night, while Grace responded by saying she would be just as happy to watch Stratton win the Elimination Chamber. Chelsea Green then rolled up in her wheelchair, accidentally colliding with Stratton, and demanded an apology for injuring her last week. Tiffany responded with sarcasm, brushing off the demand before walking away.
Trick Williams vs Rey Fenix
Trick Williams walked out, grabbed a microphone, and blasted out Sami Zayn, claiming that no one wanted to hear from someone who could not get the job done. He continued to mock Zayn, pointing out that while he had a major opportunity against top-tier competition that night, he chose to come out and sulk instead, something Williams believed would ultimately lead to his downfall.
Trick then shifted focus to his upcoming Elimination Chamber qualifier the following week, hyping his chances before turning his attention to Rey Fenix ahead of their scheduled bout.
Fenix cut him off mid-promo with his entrance, and the match got underway shortly after. The two put on a fast-paced, high-energy contest filled with explosive offense. In the closing moments, Williams connected with the Trick Shot, sealing the victory.
Winner: Trick Williams
Grade: A
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- What a great way to deliver a match, where Fenix got over, showcasing some very sick high-flying moves despite the loss.
- Before the match in a backstage segment, Sami Zayn told Rey Fenix to make sure he taught Trick Williams a lesson in the ring that night. He also thanked Fenix for the advice and encouragement he had given him the previous week, adding that he intended to carry those words with him into his match.
- Backstage, RHIYO were cooling down after their match when Giulia and Kiana James appeared, grumbling as they made their way through. Iyo Sky hinted that she might set her sights on Giulia’s title, forcing Kiana to pull her away while she protested loudly. Meanwhile, Jade Cargill walked past, pausing to give RHIYO an intense stare before continuing on.
Jade Cargill (c) vs Jordynne Grace – WWE Women’s title match
In the co-main event of the show, Jade Cargill defended the WWE Women’s title for the first time since capturing it in November against Tiffany Stratton. Before the match started, Liv Morgan walked out accompanied by Dominik Mysterio and Raquel Rodriguez.
Mysterio mentioned that his abuela wanted to watch the match up close, while Liv Morgan noted Jade Cargill surpassing 100 days as champion. Dirty Dom revealed that he had arranged a private Valentine’s Day dinner so Liv could enjoy the match, which the production crew promptly brought in.
The bout continued with Liv and Dom enjoying their dinner and Rodriguez enjoying the show. Meanwhile, Grace delivered a brutal attack focused on Cargill’s left arm, but Cargill fought back. She countered with a pump kick and, despite the injury to her left hand, followed up with the Jaded to secure the pinfall and retain the championship.
Winner & Still: Jade Cargill
Grade: C+
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Having the camera repeatedly pan to the ringside was very distracting for the title match. Maybe WWE is building something with the storyline.
- The clean pinfall loss definitely doesn’t help Grace, who has yet to capture a title in WWE, despite multiple attempts.
- This was Cargill’s first title defense in her title reign, which is currently at 105 days.
- “If you challenge me at WrestleMania, that will be your ass!” – Jade Cargill to Liv Morgan after the win.
- In a video promo, Jacob Fatu sent a stern warning to Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn ahead of the main event.
- Backstage, Fraxiom was hanging out with the Motor City Machine Guns, quietly snickering at a visibly depressed Johnny Gargano. Candice LeRae tried to lift his spirits, but Gargano admitted he felt lost, his tag partner was gone, he had no friends, no titles, nothing. Candice reassured him that she was right there and quickly set about “fixing it,” wheeling away the production case. Meanwhile, Solo Sikoa, along with his MFTs, walked past, and Sikoa warned them to get in line if they had any hopes of competing for the tag titles. Solo then spotted a drawing of a lantern fashioned from his own head stuck to the door. He angrily tore it down to end the segment.
Cody Rhodes vs Jacob Fatu vs Sami Zayn – Men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match
In the main event of the show, Cody Rhodes, Jacob Fatu, and Sami Zayn battled for the third spot in the men’s Elimination Chamber Qualifying match. Chaos erupted when Fatu delivered the moonsault and was about to pin Sami when Drew McIntyre took him out with a Claymore. Drew followed it up by putting Fatu through the table.
Back in the ring, McIntyre hit Cody Rhodes with a Claymore and then dragged Sami on top of Rhodes, and the referee went for the cover, but Rhodes kicked out. McIntyre re-entered the ring to continue punishing Rhodes, only for Sami to return with a Helluva Kick, taking out Drew, seemingly rejecting the help. Taking advantage of the chaos, Rhodes hit the Cross Rhodes on Sami and secured the pinfall to win the qualifier.
Winner: Cody Rhodes
Grade: B
Match Insights & Backstage Moments:
- Before the main event, GM Nick Aldis presented Oba Femi with a contract, when Kit Wilson then barged in, prompting Aldis to scold him for the interruption. Aldis took Wilson’s poetry book and read aloud a poem in which Wilson labeled Femi as insecure and toxic. Femi asked if those words reflected Wilson’s true feelings, and Wilson confirmed that they did. In response, Oba asked Aldis to set up a match between the two for next week, which the GM agreed to.
- Also, before the main event, Drew McIntyre was interviewed backstage. He claimed that Randy Orton and LA Knight weren’t interested in this fight and assured Cody Rhodes that he would steer clear of him, his championship, and the WrestleMania main event. McIntyre then discussed Jacob Fatu, noting that Fatu might have the strongest chance in the Chamber due to his time behind bars, turning to Sami Zayn, McIntyre recalled the night he won the title, Sami walked in asking Drew to continue berating him, but Drew said a much larger part of him wanted Zayn to win, praising him as a hard-working, deserving competitor and expressing his belief that Sami could capture the big prize in the main event.
