WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights
LA Knight – Paul Heyman – Solo Sikoa

LA Knight stepped into the ring amid much fanfare and addressed Seth Rollins directly. He stated that Rollins was a desperate man, a man who was a little washed up, having joined forces with Paul Heyman. Knight then blasted Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, two men who had tried to hurt him on Rollins’ orders, since Seth was unable to do it himself.
Knight cut a promo for his upcoming clash with Rollins, declaring that he wanted Seth’s dignity, he wanted justice, and he wanted to hurt him. The Megastar ended the promo by saying that it was a prediction, not a spoiler, because it was a fact of life.
Just then, Paul Heyman appeared with the MITB briefcase, introducing himself in his iconic fashion before blasting the crowd, who were off sync. Heyman stated that, as “The Oracle,” he saw the future, the future of the entire industry, and for LA Knight, he saw absolutely nothing because Knight had no future “at all.”
Solo Sikoa then appeared, accompanied by JC Mateo, Talla Tonfa, and Tonga Loa, his MFT! Sikoa stated that while some things change, others stay the same. He mentioned that when Heyman left for Raw, things had changed, there was no more OTC, no more Bloodline, and no more Wiseman.
Solo warned Heyman to leave the building, or his MFT would put him through the table, just like they did last year. Heyman obliged and left, as Solo then addressed Knight, pointing out that what had changed was that he was the new U.S. Champion, and that meant the man who defeated him at WrestleMania, had actually defeated him.
Sikoa offered Knight the same deal: to leave the ring, or else his MFT would ensure he was never able to walk again. Knight started to leave as “LA KNIGHT” chants erupted. However, the Megastar got back in the ring, called on Solo’s troops, and stood his ground in the middle of the ring as he was surrounded by Solo’s MFT.
“FATU” chants erupted as Jimmy Uso appeared, sending a steel chair into the ring. Knight and Jimmy joined forces, evening up the odds against everyone except Talla Tonga, who attempted to climb the ropes. Solo halted his offense, requesting a retreat while addressing his wounds from the steel chair.
General Manager Nick Aldis appeared, stating that while Solo was the U.S. Champion, he still ran the show. Aldis then announced a tag team match between Solo and JC Mateo vs. Jimmy Uso and LA Knight for later that night.
Grade: C+
Key Takeaways:
- LA Knight delivered a good promo, even delivering a good imitation of Bron Breakker’s mannerisms.
- Solo Sikoa is doing all the heavy lifting in the terribly named and poorly explained, ‘My Family Tree’ (MFT) faction.
Roxanne Perez vs Sol Ruca vs Kairi Sane vs Alexa Bliss – Fatal 4-way match
In the first match of the show, Roxanne Perez, Sol Ruca, Kairi Sane, and Alexa Bliss battled in a Fatal 4-way match to hype up the upcoming Women’s Tag title fatal four-way match. Bliss asked Flair to be in her corner during the match as everyone else’ tag partner was present.
The four women delivered a nicely paced match with Sol Ruca stealing the spotlight, delivering a double sol snatcher on Bliss and Perez, but an interference from Rodriguez, who put Perez’s foot on the ropes, broke Ruca’s pin attempt. Chaos broke out at Zaria confronted Rodriguez, who slammed her on the desk before taking out Asuka.
Flair then took out Rodriguez, while Bliss ducked an insane elbow attempt from Sane to deliver the sister abigail DDT to pick up the win in the fatal four-way match.
Winner: Alexa Bliss
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- Continuing in the tradition from NXT, Sol Ruca stole the spotlight when given the chance on the main roster.
- The four teams will now battle for the Women’s Tag Team titles at Evolution.
The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins) (c) vs The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis) – WWE Tag Team Championship match
WWE Tag Team Champions The Street Profits (Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins), as announced, defended the titles against The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis). Both teams delivered jaw-dropping moves with close pinfalls.
The Champions were very close to retaining the titles but an outside interference from Erick Rowan aided Gacy and Lumis, who pinned Ford to win the match and become new WWE Tag Team Champions.
Winner: The Wyatt Sicks (Joe Gacy & Dexter Lumis)
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- The Street Profits continue to deliver amazing matches when given the time.
- Gacy kicked out of the Doomsday Blockbuster, but the cameras missed it, focusing instead on Montez pulling Lumis off the apron.
- In a backstage segment after the match, DIY, Fraxiom, and MCMG discussed their victory. DIY attempted to rally the group to work together, only to discover that Andrade and Rey Fenix had officially joined the SmackDown tag team division.
Jelly Roll’s performance
Logan Paul returned and gatecrashed Jelly Roll’s concert, yanking out the cords as the crowd was shocked. Logan stated that the fans were there to see a WWE Superstar, not to listen to people with tattoos of their children but not their custody.
Paul stepped into the ring and declared that he hated celebrities, influencers, and whatever this was, people leeching off the platform that WWE had built. He expressed disgust over the whole situation. Logan stated that WWE didn’t need a Jelly Roll, but it needed a Logan Paul. He then announced that his podcast, Impaulsive, had inked a new long-term deal with WWE.
Jelly Roll was in no mood as he reminded Logan that they were in his hometown of Tennessee, and nobody there cared about Logan’s podcast. The two stars came face to face, and Randy Orton entered, irked by Logan calling Jelly Roll an “outsider.”
Orton went off on Logan for disrespecting Jelly Roll. The Viper lost his calm and stepped into the ring, coming face to face with Logan, but Drew McIntyre took him out with a Claymore out of nowhere. Jelly Roll looked concerned as security and officials rushed in, separating McIntyre and taking him outside the ring.
Logan Paul capitalized on the opportunity, battering Orton as Jelly Roll stepped in, pulling Logan by the hair before tossing him out of the ring. Roll picked up Orton and called on Logan, who stepped onto the apron, but security rushed in, taking Logan away.
Orton and Jelly Roll celebrated as “LOGAN SUCKS” chants filled the arena. Paul retaliated by destroying the band’s setup, tearing up the drum kit, and smashing the guitars. Orton tried to calm down Jelly Roll, who wanted to go after Logan, while GM Nick Aldis also attempted to talk him down.
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- Logan Paul’s remark about being disgusted by celebrities and influencers coming into “our industry, leeching off our success on a platform we’ve built” was a great bit, highlighting his lack of self-awareness. This aspect of his character makes him an excellent heel.
- Looks like WWE is building towards a tag match for SummerSlam.
- In a backstage segment later, Jelly Roll confirmed that he will be in Randy Orton’s corner at SNME to watch his back.
Ron ‘R- Truth’ Killings vs Aleister Black
Truth set a quick pace for the match as Black tried to retaliate. The serious side of Truth was on full display as he slammed Aleister on the ring post and grabbed a steel chair. However, the offense was halted as Black took the steel chair himself and tried to hit Truth, but was stopped in his tracks by the official. Truth capitalized on the opportunity to roll up Black for a quick pin.
Winner: Ron ‘R- Truth’ Killings
Aleister Black was backstage, chasing after R-Truth, when Damian Priest halted his track and told him that he had lost and had to let it go, as it was over. Black calmed down, apologizing. The two embraced, and Aleister started to leave, but then stated on second thought…
Black came in with a running knee before battering Priest. He delivered the Black Mass and then stated that he could now let it go, as security and officials rushed in to separate the two.
Grade: C
Key Takeaways:
- While the ending was good in terms of the storyline, the match felt rushed.
- Aleister Black’s entrance felt longer than the match itself.
- The feud between Damain Priest and Aleister Black would be electrifying.
Tiffany Stratton – Trish Stratus
Wade Barrett interviewed Tiffany Stratton and Trish Stratus ahead of their clash at Evolution. Barrett asked why Stratton chose Trish for her title defense, and Tiffany explained that she has defeated multiple big names and now wants to face the legend.
Barrett then asked how Stratus felt ahead of the title clash. Trish replied that while Stratton needs to beat her to prove she is the G.O.A.T., she already is one, and on Sunday, she would deliver “stratisfaction,” something she’s been doing for 25 years.
Stratton countered, stating that things were different now, and while she knew about Stratus’ contributions from a “VHS” tape, Stratus fired back, asking if Stratton learned about VHS on “TikTok.” The two stars exchanged heated words until Naomi came out, stating that it didn’t matter. But then, Jade Cargill appeared, taking down Naomi. Security and officials rushed in, separating the two.
Grade: C
Key Takeaways:
- The time constraint was evident again as the time given to build the two matches for Evolution was very short, comparatively.
- The ‘VHS’ vs ‘TikTok’ line from Tiffany and Stratton was gold.
LA Knight & Jimmy Uso vs Solo Sikoa & JC Mateo – Tag Team match
As announced by GM Nick Aldis, LA Knight and Jimmy Uso teamed up to battle Solo Sikoa and JC Mateo in the main event. A distraction by Paul Heyman cost Knight as Talla Tonga took him out with a big boot ringside. However, Jimmy capitalized on the distraction, rolling Solo up for the win. Mateo, Tonga, and Loa chased after Jimmy, who retreated into the crowd stands.
Sikoa was not happy about the situation as he warned Paul Heyman, only to eat a BFT from Knight, who then flaunted on the ropes. However, Heyman had other plans as Bron Breakker took him out with a vicious spear, while Bronson Reed delivered a crushing Tsunami. Heyman and company stood tall, giving a preview for SNME as the show came to an end.
Winner: LA Knight & Jimmy Uso
Grade: B+
Key Takeaways:
- LA Knight is a main event star who gets insane pops, and WWE should treat him that way.
- Jimmy Uso botched the escape, and Talla Tonga and Tonga Loa had to adjust during the chase near the barricade.
- The episode managed to somewhat build excitement for the upcoming matches at SNME and Evolution, except the matches involving Knight and Orton, where the build-up was more successful.
