WWE SmackDown Summary and Highlights
Nia Jax
WWE Women’s Champion Nia Jax entered the arena to start the show at the Barclays Center. The Women’s Crown Jewel Championship was on display inside the ring. Jax said that her focus is on the Crown Jewel Title and she is determined to get her hands on the title.
She further stated that she annihilates anything and everything that comes in her way. Liv Morgan’s music hit as Raquel Rodriguez walked out with Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio.
Morgan and Jax went back and forth on the mic as Morgan entered the ring. The two Champions cut a promo for their upcoming match.
Tiffany Stratton walks-in
Tiffany Stratton walked in and warned Morgan that she is going to cash in at Crown Jewel 2024. Jax believed that she is going to cash in on Morgan but Stratton clarified that she might cash in on Jax too as she hadn’t made any decision.
Stratton stated that she would cash in and take the title back home with her. Stratton and Morgan’s face-off led to physical interaction as Tiffany landed an elbow that pushed Morgan out of the ring. Morgan asked for a referee as we went into the commercials.
Liv Morgan vs Tiffany Stratton
Morgan and Stratton battled outside the ring as Morgan manhandled Tiffany and went to hug Dirty Dom. Tiffany took back control inside the ring as she landed a powerbomb and went for the pinfall.
Morgan kicked out at two. Morgan then landed a code breaker but was unsuccessful in the pinfall. Jax and Raquel argued outside the ring. As Jax tried to interfere Tiffany tried to hit Morgan with the MITB briefcase but Morgan ducked under and used this distraction to bag the win via a rollup.
Morgan attacked Tiffany with the MITB briefcase and then went to attack Jax but Jax caught the briefcase and obliterated Morgan, Raquel, and Dominik with the briefcase. Jax then landed annihilator from the ring post on the WWE Women’s World Champion to end the segment.
Kevin Owens
A video was played during the SmackDown episode in which Owens stated that he tried to contact Orton and sent the video because he wanted to talk to him.
Owens stated that he didn’t want to fight him as he had looked up to Orton for so long. He further stated that he had no idea why Orton wanted to fight.
But now he is going to hurt Orton at Crown Jewel as he did this (took Rhode’s side) to him and shattered their friendship. Now Owens wants that he will obliterate The Viper at the Saudi PLE as he said that he will ‘see’ The Viper on Saturday.
The Street Profits vs Pretty Deadly
The team of Montez Ford & Angelo Dawkins (The Street Profits) along with B-Fab walked inside the ring as we went into commercials. Back from commercials, the team of Elton Prince & Kit Wilson (Pretty Deadly) walked with Pretty Deadly CD into the arena. Prince and Wilson interacted with the American music icon Lin-Manuel Miranda who was in the arena as Elton gave their music CD to the singer-songwriter.
Inside the ring, Elton started things off with Ford and tagged Prince as the tag team took control of the match. Montez Ford took a beating but refused to give up as he rallied back and tagged Dawkins. Dawkins manhandled the team of Pretty Deadly as he landed a couple of brutal blows.
In the final moments of the match, Ford landed a kick to Kit as Prince tried to distract Dawkins but B Fab saved the day and slammed Elton on the floor. The Street Profits landed their finishing move super Blockbuster to bag the win against Pretty Deadly.
Backstage
Jax and Morgan argued during the SmackDown episode backstage about the segment earlier where Tiffany said she might even cash in on Jax too. Tiffany assured Jax that she wasn’t going to cash in on her and saying that in the ring earlier was all part of her plan.
Noami and Bayley walked in and poked fun at the two arguing. Noami then asked Jax to keep the title warm for her warning her that she would seize the title in the future.
Naomi & Bayley vs Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell
Bayley and Hartwell started the tag team action as Hartwell took control of the match. Back from the commercials, LeRae was inside the ring as she tried to finish the match by obliterating former multi-time champ Bayley.
Bayley rallied back and countered the team of LeRae and Hartwell and got an opportunity to tag Naomi. Noami and LeRae locked horns as Noami planted, Candice, on the ring post.
Noami launched herself and took out Hartwell as she tagged Bayley. Bayley and LeRae battled in the ring. Bayley landed belly-to-belly but LeRae obliterated the former champion.
However, she failed to realize that Noami was the legal one as she went for the cover on Bayley. Naomi stepped back in the ring and landed rear-view to bag the win against the team of LeRae and Hartwell.
Roman Reigns & The Usos segment
Roman Reigns, along with Jimmy Uso, walked into the arena as the crowd went wild at the Barclays Center. Amid ‘OTC’ chants, Jimmy rallied the crowd, asking if he could keep it 100% with the Brooklyn fans.
Jimmy then spoke to Reigns, expressing his love for him but insisting that Reigns needed to listen. Amid ‘Yeet’ chants, Jimmy told The OTC to drop the beef with Jey, explaining that he had squashed it and it was time for Reigns to make up with their brother. Reigns asked for the mic just as Jey Uso entered the arena through the crowd. The Brooklyn crowd erupted as Jey stood face-to-face with Reigns in the ring.
Jey began addressing The OTC, stating that this upcoming fight was only about settling the score with Solo, who had cost him his IC title and was hurting the family. He reminded them that he had not forgotten how Reigns had backstabbed him, causing him both physical and mental damage.
However, Jey emphasized that he had still shown up because “family above all!” He declared that he was no longer the right hand of The OTC but was now Reigns’ equal. He called for the three of them to run things like they used to in the past and warned The OTC that with the slightest hint of disrespect, he would leave.
Jey then asked Reigns to act like his cousin instead of his Tribal Chief, saying, “Then I’ll see you at Crown Jewel tomorrow. We could do it together!” Uso concluded and requested Reigns’ response.
The OTC asked for the mic as the crowd erupted with ‘OTC’ chants. Reigns picked up the mic and exclaimed, “Yeet!”.
The crowd went wild again as Jimmy Uso pointed to the sky, looking at the two. Jey joined him while Reigns walked forward, pointing to the sky to signal the reunion of the OG Bloodline. “Family above all!”

MCMG spoke to Byron Saxton about their goal as the new Tag Champs of the Blue brand. A-Town Down Under interrupted the new Tag Champs.
Waller expressed his respect for MCMG, suggesting they deserved a spot on WWE’s biggest talk show. Alex Shelley humorously responded, “Miz TV?” It was revealed that MCMG would actually be appearing on The Grayson Waller Effect the following week.
Iyo Sky made her entrance in the ring for a singles fatal 4-Way.
IYO SKY vs Bianca Belair vs Lash Legend vs Piper Niven
Back from commercials, Sky, Legend, and Niven walked in as the scene shifted backstage, where Belair and Cargill cut a promo for the Saudi PLE before entering the arena for the match. The singles fatal 4-Way match was in action as Piper took out Belair while Legend dumped Sky face-first onto the apron.
Legend and Niven clashed in the center of the ring, each delivering a clothesline to the other. Belair capitalized on the moment, going for a pinfall after a shoulder drop, but Sky broke the count. Legend and Niven teamed up to take out Sky, but their alliance quickly soured as they began exchanging blows.
Belair entered the ring and took out both Legend and Niven with high-flying action. Niven slipped out and teamed up with Legend once more to take out Belair, but Iyo Sky then took out everyone. Sky climbed to the top rope, but Niven stopped her in her tracks and climbed the rope too, only for Belair to take out both stars, showcasing her athleticism.
Legend nearly pinned Belair but was taken out by Chelsea Green as Sane, Jackson, and Cargill started fighting each other at ringside. Cargill entered the ring and came face-to-face with Legend, but Jackson knocked Cargill out of the ring. Cargill then blasted Jakara with a pump kick.
Bianca took down Legend with the KOD, but Sky capitalized instantly, landing a moonsault on Belair to pick up the win in the fatal four-way match.
Backstage
Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton geared up for their tag team action. Orton and Rhodes discussed Orton’s match against Owens at Crown Jewel 2024. Orton mentioned that he was prepared for the tag team actions and told Orton to leave a bit of Kevin Owens for him.
Randy acknowledged that he was uncertain if there would be anything left of him, and Cody replied that he wasn’t sure what he’d do in that situation.
The US Title promo
An Andrade promo aired, where he declared he would become the new United States champion. Following that, a Carmelo Hayes promo played, in which he stated he couldn’t think of a better place to win the U.S. title than in Saudi Arabia, a comment that seemed questionable since it would make more sense to win it where the title was named after.
Finally, an LA Knight promo featured him saying he didn’t regret what he did to Andrade and Hayes during Game 7, asserting that he would retain his title at Crown Jewel.
Solo Sikoa responds
Solo Sikoa responded to The OTC and The Usos. Sikoa stated that his new family would always support him and never let him down. He mentioned that Jimmy, Jey, and Roman couldn’t get along.
Solo kept asking why he was seen as the bad guy, insisting he wasn’t—he was the Tribal Chief. At Crown Jewel, he claimed that Roman’s Bloodline would respect and acknowledge Solo’s Bloodline.
Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton vs Gunther & Ludwig Kaiser
Gunther walked into the arena for the tag team action on Friday Night SmackDown as the show went into commercials. Back from the break, Randy Orton entered the ring first for the tag team action. Following Orton, ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes made his entrance as fireworks went off. Gunther and Rhodes started the action, but Gunther quickly tagged in Kaiser to play mind games with Rhodes.
Rhodes took control of the fight, delivering a suicide dive onto Kaiser outside the ring. After the commercial, The Imperium took charge of the match, manhandling and brutalizing Rhodes.
Orton rallied the crowd behind him as he looked for a tag. Rhodes fought back and attempted to tag in Orton, but Kaiser interfered.
Both stars delivered clotheslines to each other as Orton and Gunther sought tags. Rhodes tagged in Orton, who hit Kaiser with a clothesline and then performed a power slam on Ludwig. Gunther was tagged in, but Orton slammed the heavyweight champion and went for the RKO. However, Gunther countered and power-slammed Orton.
Rhodes entered the ring and landed Cody’s cutter on Gunther. He looked for ‘Cross Rhodes,’ but Gunther intervened. Orton then took out Gunther with an RKO on the heavyweight champion. Finally, Rhodes landed the ‘Cody Cutter’ on Kaiser to secure the win.
Kevin Owens attacks
After the match as Orton and Rhodes celebrated, Kevin Owens appeared in the squared ring and attacked Orton with a chair.
Rhodes looked back and tried to rescue The Vipeer but Gunhter locked in Gojira Clutch on the Undisputed Champion. The WWE security tried to intervene but Gunther put Rhodes to sleep as the Friday Night SmackDown concluded.
