The Red Devils picked up a big win against the league leaders!
Manchester United’s dramatic 3–2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium sparked reactions well beyond the football world.
Among them was WWE SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who took to social media to praise United’s interim head coach Michael Carrick after the late win in north London.
Aldis tweeted, “The best start to a managerial career since I told Dom I was a big fan of his dad 🙌.”
The line was a tongue-in-cheek nod to WWE lore involving Dominik Mysterio and his legendary father Rey Mysterio, using layered humor to underline just how impressive Carrick’s early results in temporary charge have been.
Manchester United turn the tables at Emirates
Arsenal began brightly and took a deserved lead in the 29th minute when Lisandro Martínez, under pressure from Jurriën Timber, turned the ball into his own net. However, after going ahead, Mikel Arteta’s side appeared to lose their attacking edge and invited pressure.

Manchester United capitalised eight minutes later. A poor loose pass from Martín Zubimendi was pounced on by Bryan Mbeumo, who rounded Senne Lammens and calmly finished to bring the visitors level before the break.
The second half opened with even greater intensity. Just five minutes after the restart, Patrick Dorgu stunned the home crowd with a spectacular long-range strike to put United ahead. Arsenal responded through Mikel Merino, whose scrappy equaliser from a corner briefly restored parity and momentum.
Michael Carrick’s composed response to a statement win

That momentum was short-lived. In the 87th minute, Matheus Cunha produced the decisive moment of the night, unleashing a thunderous strike from outside the box to reclaim the lead for United just three minutes after Merino’s goal.

Carrick remained composed afterward, stating that Manchester United have “bigger games to come,” even as away supporters sang “We’re gonna win the league” in celebration. The win extended his perfect start as interim head coach and moved United into the Champions League qualification positions.
It was also United’s first league victory away to Arsenal since December 2017, adding further weight to the result. While Carrick’s role remains as interim HC for now, but performances like this will continue to strengthen his reputation.
Nick Aldis’ reaction captured the mood succinctly, blending admiration with humor, and reflecting how Carrick’s early impact has resonated well beyond the Premier League.
