Some of these grapplers could use a break

The Bad Blood PLE is just hours away with some of the most anticipated matches on the card. While some wrestlers would continue their momentum on WWE programming after the event, others could take a sabbatical from the gruelling schedule of the wrestling world.

Join us now as we look at the top four WWE Stars who could be written off after Bad Blood 2024.

4. Bayley

Bayley has been in constant action for a long time on the WWE main roster. Granted, a win in her match against Nia Jax would make her the women’s world champion and could result in a further continuance of her appearances on the Stamford-based promotion.

But it feels highly unlikely that the former Damage Ctrl member would be able to dethrone Jax off her perch. Hence, the wrestling juggernaut could use the opportunity to write off the veteran wrestler from its programming after the Bad Blood PLE.

It not only will give Bayley a much-needed break from the rigours of wrestling, but also allow the writing team to come up with an engaging storyline for her whenever she returns.

3. Sami Zayn

Apart from a break during the COVID-19-induced pandemic era in 2020, Sami Zayn has been a constant feature of WWE programming for almost four years. A massive upsurge in the Canadian’s popularity has meant that his run on the main roster has gone on without any breaks.

It is a testament to Zayn’s fitness that he has managed to compete week in and week out in the Stamford-based promotion. But at the age of 40, he is not getting any younger, thus if WWE decides to give the former Intercontinental champion some time off it’ll be well deserved.

Moreover, Gunther seems to be in a long haul, when it comes to his World Heavyweight championship, and as such Zayn winning it is a long shot. Hence, it’ll make sense for all parties if he is written off from TV for some time.

2. Roman Reigns

Even before Roman Reigns went on a long break of almost four months after WrestleMania XL, he was on a lighter schedule. With the Bloodline Civil War definitely spilling on to next month’s Survivor Series WarGames, there seems little time for ‘The Original Tribal Chief’ to take his foot off the pedal.

However, WWE can book his appearances tactfully so that he can be written off its programming for some time yet feature in the next month’s PLE. Given Reigns’ constant battle with Leukaemia, it’ll be understandable if he decides to take some time off. Moreover, he’ll probably be back in a whiff, so it’s a win-win situation both for the wrestler and his employers.

1. CM Punk

Even though CM Punk has spent the better part of 2024 on the injured list, he has been heavily featured on WWE programming owing to his blockbuster feud with Drew McIntyre. Granted, the best in the world is a dedicated professional but at the age of 45, he has himself admitted that there aren’t many years of professional wrestling left in him.

Hence, whatever the result of his Hell in a Cell match against McIntyre at the Bad Blood PLE, it won’t be a surprise if Punk is written off from the Stamford-based promotion’s programming after the event.

If the promotion does decide to give its top star a sabbatical, he could mount a monumental comeback in the Royal Rumble match in January 2025. Apart from getting a rejuvenating break, Punk would be back to WWE just in time for the buildup of WrestleMania XLI.

It’s no secret that wrestlers work through niggling injuries throughout their careers. But it is essential to take a break from the hard bumps and precarious manoeuvres once in a while. All the accomplished grapplers mentioned on this list could be written off from in-ring action after Bad Blood hits the reset button.
