Finn Balor stabs Damian Priest’s back to help GUNTHER become the new World Heavyweight Champion
In a gripping showdown at SummerSlam 2024, GUNTHER squared off against Damian Priest for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, delivering a match that had the crowd on the edge of their seats.
The action began backstage, where Damian Priest was getting ready for his match. Finn Balor approached him, expressing concern over not being able to find Dominik Mysterio. They reconciled their earlier differences, emphasizing that Judgment Day comes first. Balor offered his support to Priest, should he need it during the match.
As the bell rang, Priest immediately took the fight to GUNTHER, hammering him with forearms into the corner. GUNTHER retaliated with powerful chops, showing why he’s known as the Ring General. The intensity escalated quickly, with Priest delivering a leaping back elbow and GUNTHER countering with a series of brutal chops.
Priest gained the upper hand with a lifting reverse STO, sending GUNTHER to the floor. He followed up with a clubbing lariat off the steps, but GUNTHER responded with a butterfly suplex. The battle raged on, with both men exchanging wild chops, leaving GUNTHER’s chest bloodied.
A rolling elbow and a powerbomb from GUNTHER brought him close to victory, but Priest kicked out. Priest fought back with a Cyclone Kill and connected with South of Heaven, but GUNTHER narrowly escaped defeat. Priest then called for the Razor’s Edge, but GUNTHER blocked it, leading to a series of reversals and a capture suplex from the Ring General.
GUNTHER continued his assault with a lariat and a boot, leaving Priest dazed. Despite the punishment, Priest waved GUNTHER in for more, showing his resilience. Balor appeared at ringside, lending his support to Priest. However, the dynamic changed when GUNTHER delivered a devastating chop that sent Priest crashing to the mat.
As the match reached its climax, Priest powered up and delivered the Razor’s Edge. He went for South of Heaven, but Balor interfered, placing GUNTHER’s foot on the ropes. Priest, stunned by Balor’s actions, lost focus momentarily. GUNTHER took advantage, locking in the Gojira Clutch. Despite Priest’s valiant efforts, the champion’s strength began to fade.
In a dramatic turn of events, Priest found the strength to counter the Gojira Clutch and went after Balor. GUNTHER capitalized on the distraction, delivering a powerbomb and reapplying the Gojira Clutch. This time, there was no escape for Priest.
GUNTHER secured the victory by referee stoppage with the Gojira Clutch, becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The Ring General’s dominance and Balor’s interference created a compelling narrative, leaving the WWE Universe eagerly anticipating the fallout from this intense confrontation.
