Liv Morgan will defend her title against Rhea Ripley next month

Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan will defend her crown against Rhea Ripley in the debut show of Monday Night Raw on Netflix. The debut show is set for January 6 at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

The match was set after Morgan defended her title successfully against Iyo Sky at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Ripley made an appearance after the match and had a face-off with the champion. The match was announced officially at the Raw on Netflix kick-off event last week.

The two stars have engaged in a fierce feud since April which culminated at SummerSlam 2024. However, that clash made the storyline even more significant when Dominik Mysterio betrayed Ripley and helped Morgan retain her title.

Ripley and Morgan last locked horns in the women’s WarGames clash at Survivor Series 2024 where Ripley and her team emerged victorious against Team Morgan. However, when it comes to singles competition the two stars last met at WWE Bad Blood 2024 PLE, where Ripley picked up the win via disqualification.

Vince Russo picks Liv Morgan to win the match on January 6

In a recent conversation with Dr. Chris Featherstone, Former WWE Head Writer Vince Russo predicted the outcome of the clash between Morgan and Ripley in the debut episode next month.

Russo also discussed the move of the WWE on the streaming platform and the Red brand’s show on Netflix. During an episode of Sportskeeda’s Writing with Russo, Chris asked Russo about his prediction of the title clash between Liv and Rhea.

The former WWE Head Writer predicted Morgan as the winner of the clash as he believed that Ripley doesn’t need the title. While the promotion needs to protect Morgan in the match as she needs the title.

“I think you know, Rhea Ripley is super over with the people. She don’t need the belt, you know. Liv does. Liv, that belt and that title really helps Liv. Rhea Ripley will remain over whether or not she wins the title. She doesn’t need the title. They just need to protect her in this match. But I think, I mean, they should keep the title on Liv.” Russo said.

Apart from the title clash between Morgan and Ripley, two more matches have been announced for the debut show. Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa will clash in a tribal combat match where the sacred Ula Fala necklace is on the line.

CM Punk will face Seth Rollins in a grudge match at the Intuit Dome next month, this match will be the main event of the Monday Night Raw‘s debut show.

Who do you think will walk out with the title between the two? Do you agree with Vince Russo’s comments? Share your thoughts and predictions in the comments section.
