Jey Uso & Gunther had a banger match
It was the kind of match that defines WWE WrestleMania. The lights were bright, the crowd was buzzing, and the atmosphere felt electric the moment Gunther’s ominous entrance theme hit.
Dressed in his trademark black trench coat with the World Heavyweight Championship strapped tightly around his waist, The Ring General made his way to the ring with quiet confidence. But he wasn’t walking into any ordinary title defense, he was facing a man fueled by heart, pain and pride: Jey Uso.
As Alicia Taylor made the official in-ring introductions, fans were already on their feet. The bell rang, and just like that, WrestleMania Saturday was underway.
The two stared each other down before locking up. Gunther took early control, chopping Jey so hard it echoed through Allegiant Stadium. But Jey fired back with a right hand that stunned the champ and sent him rolling out of the ring—not once, but twice. It was clear from the get-go: Jey wasn’t here to play.
Gunther’s size and strength showed throughout the match. He grounded Jey with a brutal headlock takedown, landed thunderous uppercuts, and nearly crushed him with a splash. But every time he went for the pin, Jey kicked out. The resilience from “Main Event” Jey was off the charts.
The crowd came alive as Jey mounted his comeback, landing a huge bodyslam, a kick to the head, and a spear that nearly ended it. Gunther answered with his signature chops and a top-rope suplex, followed by a crushing powerbomb—still, Jey kicked out.
Jey Uso is the new WWE World Champion
In a desperate move, Gunther tried to cheat his way to victory. As Jey dove outside the ring, Gunther nailed him with the title belt while the ref was distracted. He followed it with a splash from the top rope—but Jey kicked out again.
The closing stretch was pure chaos. Jey hit multiple superkicks, a devastating spear, and then climbed the top rope for the Uso Splash not once, not twice, but three times, including one to Gunther’s back. Then came the twist, Jey locked in a sleeper hold, and for the first time in a long, long time, Gunther tapped out.
