Trouble at “The Grandest Stage of Them All”
Liv Morgan captured the biggest victory of her career at WrestleMania 42, defeating Stephanie Vaquer to become the new Women’s World Champion. In a fast-paced, high-impact contest filled with counters and chaos, Morgan capitalized on every opportunity to dethrone the champion.
Vaquer came out aggressively, immediately taking Morgan down with a double-leg and unloading grounded punches. Morgan briefly escaped to the outside, but the champion pursued, launching her into the barricade before dragging her back into the ring to maintain control.
Back inside, Vaquer continued her offense with a corner elbow and double knees before heading up top. Morgan cut her off and delivered a sunset flip Tenryu powerbomb, nearly stealing an early victory in a match that never slowed down.
Momentum swings define chaotic title clash
Liv Morgan began to find her rhythm, hitting the “Three Amigos” suplexes and adding a confident shimmy that drew a strong reaction. She followed with a Glimmering Warlock and went for a frog splash, but Vaquer countered with raised knees to halt the momentum.
The champion responded with a back suplex and her signature “Devil’s Kiss,” earning a close two-count. Morgan answered with a lungblower and unleashed vicious palm strikes to Vaquer’s neck, only for the champion to counter with a quick victory roll for another near fall.
Both competitors continued trading high-impact moves. Morgan landed a codebreaker, while Vaquer countered with a sudden Oblivion attempt that nearly ended things. The constant reversals kept the outcome uncertain, with neither woman able to fully seize control.
Interference and resilience lead to title change
The match took a controversial turn when Roxanne Perez distracted referee Eddie Orengo, allowing Raquel Rodriguez to deliver a cheap shot. Morgan capitalized immediately, hitting Oblivion—but Vaquer somehow kicked out, showing remarkable resilience.
Vaquer fought back by neutralizing both Perez and Rodriguez before sending Morgan crashing into them with a low bridge. She then wiped them out with a plancha, momentarily regaining control as the chaos unfolded at ringside.
However, Morgan refused to be denied. After being thrown into the steel steps, Vaquer struggled to recover, and Morgan seized her opening. Back in the ring, she climbed to the top rope and delivered a diving codebreaker to set the stage.
Moments later, Morgan connected with a decisive Oblivion to secure the pinfall victory. The three-count marked the end of Vaquer’s reign and the beginning of a new era in the Women’s World Championship picture.
Winner: Liv Morgan (New Women’s World Champion)
The celebration was just as notable. Dominik Mysterio rushed to the ring to present Morgan with the title, while Raquel Rodriguez and Roxanne Perez joined in. Together, they stood tall as Morgan held the championship high, cementing her WrestleMania moment.
