WWE had different match plans for WrestleMania 41
WWE WrestleMania 41 has concluded, and fan reactions have been shockingly varied. But how different would things have been if the business had chosen what was first proposed as pro wrestling’s biggest event of the year?
Seconds into the new Netflix series WWE: Unreal, Chief Content Officer Triple H is in a boardroom at WWE Headquarters discussing the Showcase of the Immortals. The initial pitching bouts for WrestleMania 41 are scrawled on the side of a whiteboard.
While parts of it cannot be made out, this is a broad sense of what was originally offered for this year’s WrestleMania.
- WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes vs John Cena
- Roman Reigns vs CM Punk OR Seth Rollins
- World Heavyweight Championship: CM Punk OR Seth Rollins vs Gunther
- Women’s World Championship: Rhea Ripley vs Bianca Belair
- WWE Women’s Championship: Jade Cargill vs Nia Jax
- Randy Orton vs Kevin Owens
- Wyatt Sicks vs Judgment Day
- Women’s Tag: Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch vs IYO SKY and Asuka
- AJ Styles vs Logan Paul
- Bad Bunny vs Dominik Mysterio
- Bron Breakker vs Drew McIntyre
- Rey Mysterio (w/ Travis Scott) vs Chad Gable
Looking back at the original plans for WrestleMania 41, it’s fun to imagine the what-ifs. Things would’ve kicked off way before the Royal Rumble and even before Tiffany cashed in on Nia Jax. That twist happened on January 3.
So yeah, the timeline would’ve looked very different. Whether you loved the card we got or wished for the original lineup, one thing’s clear: WWE knows how to keep us guessing.
Did the final version hit harder, or did we miss out on something even cooler? That’s where you come in. Do let us know what you think about the Mania madness & the original plans. Which was better? Let us know in our comments section.
