Disasi and Silva set to be unavailable to face Spurs

Thiago Silva and Axel Disasi, two of Chelsea’s defenders, are expected to be sidelined against Tottenham on Thursday night. Disasi is out for an undisclosed cause, and Silva was hurt in the groyne during the 2-2 tie with Aston Villa.

With just five games left in the current campaign, the 39-year-old Brazilian may have played his final game for Chelsea after announcing on Monday that he would be leaving the Blues in the summer.

The defender substituted Silva in the 90th minute at Villa Park and could have struck an at-the-last-moment winner had it not been for VAR’s involvement. Given his strong season-long play, Disasi may start at centre-back or right-back for Pochettino, based on where Trevoh Chalobah is started.

Although Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill are returned fully trained, the London rivalry at Stamford Bridge against Spurs will probably come prematurely.

Among the injured players remaining are Reece James, Malo Gusto, Enzo Fernandez, Lesley Ugochukwu, Ben Chilwell, Romeo Lavia, Robert Sanchez, and Wesley Fofana.

There are just nine senior outfield players available for Mauricio Pochettino to select from.

Alfie Gilchrist will so take over for the wounded Silva in a defensive line that also includes Marc Cucurella, Trevoh Chalobah, and Benoit Badiashile. As the custodian, Djordje Petrovic will remain in place.

Moises Caicedo and Conor Gallagher, Chelsea’s only accessible midfield tandem, will act as a double pivot.With Nicolas Jackson, Mykhailo Mudryk, Cole Palmer, and Noni Madueke as their offensive front four, they are expected to start strong.

Chelsea performed brilliantly in the second half at Villa Park and will seek to increase their hopes of reaching for Europe with an identical achievement, but this time for the whole 90 minutes.

Since Cesare Casadei is a rookie in his senior professional season, he is probably the most seasoned player on the bench.
