Kevin De Bruyne's top 10 best assists in Premier League: Ranked
“I always like to assist more than scoring. It gives me another feeling” – Kevin De Bruyne
Manchester City became a treble-winning side last season. They most importantly won their maiden UEFA Champions League trophy in the run as well. A team that has been in the making for years finally won the biggest throne in European football.
Although there are very few stars that can say that they have been present in the evolution of the club for very long, one such key figure is Kevin De Bruyne. The sensational midfielder arrived back in 2015 after having won the Bundesliga Player of the Year at VfL Wolfsburg. Manuel Pellegrini was the head coach back then. Although Pellegrini is no longer at the helm, the Belgium international has been a phenom in Manchester and the whole of England.
In the Premier League alone, De Bruyne has reached 106 assists already. That’s one more than former Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney. The midfielder is also likely to catch up second places Cesc Fàbregas by the end of the season. Fàbregas has 111 assists under his belt. However, to beat the top assist maker of all time Ryan Giggs, with 162 assists, Kevin De Bruyne will need a few more good seasons at the top.
10. Man City 7-2 Stoke City (14 October 2017)
Against Stoke City back in 2017, Kevin De Bryune made sure to win a ball that was not even fifty-fifty. Later the man envisaged a pass to number 19 Leroy Sané. The ball just rolled itself along the grass perfectly to find the intended player.
9. Newcastle United 2-3 Man City (13 January 2024)
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp had already said with a pun about the number 17’s imminent return from injury, “The whole country is starting to shake.”. And on his return back to fitness and the English league, the player ended up being a game changer. A pass in the dying minutes won all 3 points. It was also Oscar Bobb’s composure that made the goal look even more slick.
8. Man City 2-2 Tottenham Hotspurs (17 August 2019)
A swinging cross that too without taking a first touch. The ball swerved from the right wing that Man City were attacking from. It found Raheem Sterling at the far post who was making a run beside striker Sergio Aguero. Sterling couldn’t miss the header from a few yards out.
7. Man City 4-0 Crystal Palace (17 January 2021)
This time it was Sterling who made the lob pass to the midfield maestro waiting on the right wing. Then all De Bryune needed was a first touch and an outside foot delivery to put an assist pinpoint on the head of defender John Stones. Stones couldn’t miss from there, could he?
6. Aston Villa 1-6 Man City (12 January 2020)
An assist from four years back. After running down a bit from the halfway line with 2 to 3 players surrounding the midfield maestro, Kevin De Bruyne laid it on the plate for Gabriel Jesus. Jesus just had to tap in the goal from his left foot. The game was played at Villa Park.

5. Man City 6-3 Man United (2 October 2022)
Neither Lisandro Martinez nor former Real Madrid centre-back Raphaël Varane could do anything about man-marking or even imagining any way possible to stop such a beautiful lofted cross. Even David de Gea in the United goalpost wasn’t sure how to deal with this cross. With Cristiano Ronaldo watching from the Red Devils bench, Erling Haaland netted this beautiful finish.
4. Sheffield United 0-1 Man City (21 January 2020)
Sergio Agüero had come on from the bench just moments ago. The striker was in between a few defenders waiting for the ball. Without much gap between defenders and the goalline, De Bryune was still able to set up the Sky Blues number 10. And Aguero did what he does best that is find the back of the net. Without Belgium’s masterclass pass the game would have ended in all square.
3. Man City 8-0 Watford (21 September 2019)
When you have a genius on your side, a confused player with the ball is likely to try and hand him the ball. In this case, Riyad Mahrez wasn’t sure what to do with the possession of the ball so he handed it to their genius number 17. Kevin De Bryune studied David Silva’s position in a split second and delivered right into his path. Why would Silva miss after that?
2. Man City 5-1 Leicester City (10 February 2018)
In a game from the Etihad Stadium, the defensive line of Leicester City were left dumbfounded. None could predict what was Bruyne up to by putting the ball in front of the opposition goalkeeper. The ball after bouncing made its way made it to Raheem Sterling. And Sterling made sure to reward De Bryune’s cross by turning it into an assist.
1. Southampton 0-1 Man City (13 May 2018)
Although Manchester City had won the 2017-2018 Premier League title before even the matchday 38 game against Southampton began, it ended up as a special win for them. Just a last-second kick of the season helped City net 100 points in the top flight. Kevin De Bryune made a long pass for the striker Gabriel Jesus from City’s half. This assist just shows how good he is even from long-range and in pressure situations.
