The 2023 football calendar year is over. Competitive football saw numerous goals being scored. Some however took the breath away of fans worldwide at least for a moment. And in that lot, It is really hard to pick a top 10 goal list for a whole year. Nevertheless, an attempt has been made to bring you the best goals scored across 2023.

10. Memphis Depay vs Granada

Atlético Madrid 3-1 Granada | 15 August 2023: Memphis Depay who arrived midway through the 2022-23 season from FC Barcelona scored the 2023-24 LaLiga‘s Best Goal of the Month for August. It was in a game against newly promoted outfit, Granada on matchday 1. Depay was brought in as a substitute for Álvaro Morata at the hour mark and in just under 10 minutes he scored a 30-yard screamer.

9. Erling Haaland vs Southampton

Southampton 1-4 Man City | 8 April 2023: Erling Haaland had a stellar debut campaign in the English top flight. After arriving from Borussia Dortmund for a £51 million transfer fee which was also his release clause, Haaland just couldn’t stop scoring. He landed his 30th Premier League goal with an astounding bicycle kick at St. Mary’s Stadium. It was perfectly assisted by Jack Grealish.

8. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Al Akhdoud

Al Nassr 3-0 Al Akhdoud | 24 November 2023: Cristiano Ronaldo is 38 years old but he will make you think otherwise. In his full Saudi Pro League debut season, the 2023-24 one, the Portuguese legend has played almost every other league game for a full 90 minutes. At the time of writing, Ronaldo leads the top scorer charts with 19 goals as well. And among those, the second of a brace against Al Akhdoud stands out.

7. Lamine Camara vs AS Monaco

AS Monaco 2-1 FC Metz | 22 October 2023: The event took place on a Sunday fixture of Ligue 1 at the Stade Louis II. AS Monaco were playing as hosts to newly promoted outfit FC Metz. The hosts were trying to make a pass or two near the centre circle in the early minutes. A 19-year-old Lamine Camara decided to have none of it. After stealing the ball, the attacking midfielder saw Monaco goalkeeper Philipp Köhn positioned way ahead of his goalline. Camara left everyone including Köhn stunned with a long ranger.

6. Harry Kane vs Darmstadt

Bayern 8-0 Darmstadt | 28 October 2023: In this game, the German giants had 16 shots on target out of which Darmstadt couldn’t help but concede 8 goals. The game stayed at 0-0 until 3 players in total were sent off. One from the hosts and two from visitors. The former Tottenham Hotspur man, Harry Kane scored a hattrick to show how prolific he is. The 5th goal of the game and Kane’s second came off a long-range effort that left opposition keeper Marcel Schuhen dumbfounded.

5. Alexis Mac Allister vs Fulham

Liverpool 4-3 Fulham | 3 December 2023: The 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning midfielder with the Argentina national football team moved to Liverpool in the summer from Brighton. Jürgen Klopp’s newly transformed midfield had a space for Alexis Mac Allister, which the player rightly filled in. On matchday 14, which was Mac Allister’s 13th PL game, the Reds number 10 scored his first goal for the club with a stunning half-volley in a 4-3 thriller at Anfield.

4. Jude Bellingham vs Barcelona

Barcelona 1-2 Real Madrid | 28 October 2023: Real Madrid happens to be a club filled with footballing talents from across the globe. One such talent that made it to the ranks of Los Blancos this summer is Jude Bellingham. The England midfielder has seemingly raised the bar of what a perfect debut season at a new club looks like. After scoring a goal on his LaLiga debut and then in UEFA Champions League, Bellingham went on to stun Barca in his El Clásico debut as well. He even scored the winner after the equalising stunner.

3. Dries Mertens vs Zalgiris

Galatasaray 1-0 Zalgiris | 3 August 2023: Before the Turkish Süper Lig champions could play a part in this season’s UEFA Champions League group stages, they needed to win in the Second qualifying rounds against Lithuanian-based FK Žalgiris. After a 2-2 result from the 1st leg, Galatasaray played as hosts in the RAMS Park stadium for the 2nd leg. Former Napoli man Dries Mertens showed his volley technique in a goal that also proved to be the difference between both the sides after the final whistle.

2. Nuno Santos vs Boavista

Sporting 3-0 Boavista | 13 March 2023: One from the 2022-23 Liga Portugal season. In a match between Sporting CP and Boavista, Nuno Santos wearing the kits of the Green and Whites pulled off a difficult skill to score the match opener. Santos used the “Rabona” technique of hitting a football to score a beauty. His goal is even in the final three nominees selected for announcing the 2023 FIFA Puskás Award winner. The winner of the award will be announced on 15 January 2024.

Everton 0-3 Man United | 26 November 2023: Surely for a moment everyone at Goodison Park and people on their screens may have had flashbacks of Cristiano Ronaldo’s overhead effort against Juventus. Alejandro Garnacho greatly adores the legendary Portuguese icon and couldn’t help but celebrate his overhead goal with a ‘Siuuu’! Reminder, Garnacho is just 19.
