MJF expected to take time off from AEW TV after World title loss
MJF suffered several injuries during his AEW title run.
MJF is one of the youngest and top stars of AEW. He has been part of the Elite since the inception of the company and holds the record for the youngest and longest AEW World Champion. He lost his title to Samoa Joe at AEW Worlds End, after a brutal match that left him with shoulder and hip injuries.
He was also stabbed in the back by his friend Adam Cole, who turned out to be the Devil in the story. MJF had a terrible night, and his contract is expiring soon. A major report about his AEW future has been released.
MJF brief hiatus from television
According to Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp, MJF suffered several injuries during his AEW title run. However, he insisted on being on TV as he had creative control over his character. Many people in AEW anticipated that he would take a break from TV after AEW Worlds End.
“Many expect MJF to be off TV for a while immediately, if not almost immediately. MJF had sustained a plethora of injuries during his AEW Title reign but was adamant that he wanted to see it through. As MJF is often influential in his creativity, there’s always a chance he could insist on an absence not happening, but it’s expected internally.”
Maxwell already spoke about his injuries before the match. His contract with AEW is also about to end by 2023 and he claims that he hasn’t signed a new contract with AEW yet. He already spoke about the state of free agency, where he could potentially have a big price bid from promotions.
There were also several rumors that Max could move to WWE, however there isn’t any update on the status. The only thing we were able to hear from the source based on previous reports is that there isn’t any initation on either end so far. We need to wait what MJF has in mind, whether he will be continuing with AEW or will end up in WWE.
