Will Ospreay will be up against Swerve Strickland for the second time in AEW
With another four hours of wrestling, AEW elevates expectations by promising a Summer Blockbuster. Screening live from the Theater of Clouds in Portland to homes across the country and throughout the world. All In Texas showcases high-budget pay-per-view bouts, intriguing previews and teasers, as well as anticipation. Grab some popcorn and prepare.
After coming to blows last week, it’s finally happening. The sixth installment in the era-defining sequence of contests. At All In, two of history’s greatest fighters will battle for both of their titles. This Wednesday, we’ll hear what they have to say.
Has it been too long since the last installment? Is this classic property still relevant for today’s audience? Will history and time be irrelevant since Kenny Omega and Kazuchika Okada’s chemistry and old sentiments will trump all else?
After an outpouring of discontent last week, there will be at least one more women’s match in this epic of a program. It’s a solid start, but the broader historical trend has yet to be addressed. Tay Melo returns to AEW and rescues long-time buddy Anna Jay. Tayjay is back. Fight!
However, one of the opponents, Penelope Ford, is a familiar nemesis to the Brazilian, with whom Melo has bled and ripped apart. The Megasus is a goddess. One who mutilated Jay’s former tag team teammate, Harley Cameron. This return might be temporary, or Melo could present Bayne with a worthy rival.
In other news, “Timeless” Toni Storm faces off against Julia Hart in a character war. Simultaneously, as champions, these two ladies helped elevate their category to new heights. Against each other, the haunted Hart has another chance to shine in Storm’s limelight. Storm is likely to chew up the countryside like Mone’s steak last week.
Thekla will face a difficult challenge in Queen Aminata. Aminata has yet to break away from the group, although she continues to threaten to do so. This will be a tough competition with plenty of bite.
Both personal in that it tests the friendship of two of AEW’s strongest spokespeople, but also has consequences for the war for AEW’s heart and soul with Hangman Adam Page. For Will Ospreay, this is about more than just him and Swerve Strickland. It’s about the company.
Their final match was for the World Championship. The stakes for this one appear to be high, since the conclusion might have an impact on All In. Once again, the outcome and fallout from these two might shape the remainder of AEW’s year. Beating Ospreay last year reassured fans that Strickland’s rule was gold-plated, not paper-thin.
Beating Ospreay again may result in another setback for the Billy GOAT. It may also persuade Strickland that he is justified in costing Page based on history. However, a severe setback for Strickland might prompt the former Mogul to reconsider his options.
And this is only one part of the conclusion. Not the insane, dizzying, and fascinating potential of the movement itself. The box office potential for this showcase match is high.
