AEW World title was defended in a Clockwork Carnage match
The fourth annual edition of the pay-per-view featured in honor of the great Antonio Inoki, who was a Japanese wrestling legend, featured a stacked lineup of championship matches, with the AEW World Championship bout headlining the show.
This is the first time WrestleDream will be held in Florida. Notably, the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship clash where The Brawling Birds (Alex Windsor and Jamie Hayter) were set to defend the title against Harley Cameron and Kris Statlander was cancelled, as Hayter suffered an injury at All Out and was not cleared to compete at WrestleDream.
The main event saw Will Ospreay defend his AEW World Championship against seven challengers in the first-ever Clockwork Carnage match. Samoa Joe, “Speedball” Mike Bailey, Adam Copeland, Konosuke Takeshita, Kazuchika Okada, Ricochet, and Darby Allin all competed for the title in a unique multi-man showdown.
The card also featured Mercedes Mone defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against Thekla, while The Young Bucks put their AEW World Tag Team Championship on the line against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight of the Don Callis Family. Jon Moxley defended the Continental Championship against Mark Davis, and Andrade El Idolo battled Tommaso Ciampa for the National Championship.
Other championship bouts included a best-two-out-of-three-falls contest for the AEW World Trios Championship, with Swerve Strickland and The New Level taking on Hangman Adam Page and Brodido, and a four-way match for the TBS Championship involving Persephone, Queen Aminata, Dani Luna and Hyan.
