Cody Rhodes' brother Dustin Rhodes is now a free agent after AEW contract expires

Dustin Rhodes’ contract with AEW has expired
AEW star ‘The Natural’ Dustin Rhodes has had an eminent career in pro wrestling that spans over three decades. In his legendary career, he has worked with multiple promotions including WWE, TNA, WCW, and AEW.
The Natural is best known among pro wrestling fans for his work as ‘Goldust’ in the WWE. However, his recent run in the AEW and ROH is noteworthy.
Rhodes made his AEW promotional debut back in 2019. Ahead of ‘Road to Double or Nothing’ it was announced that Rhodes would compete against his real-life half-brother, Cody Rhodes.
AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view took place back in May 2019 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Natural failed to win the match but his performance was praised by fans and pundits.
Since his debut, Rhodes has also appeared in AEW’s sister promotion ROH (Ring Of Honor) where he has won ROH World Tag Team Champions alongside Sammy Guevara as well the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Marshall and Ross Von Erich.
Dustin Rhodes has been away from the ring since last month
The Natural was last seen in the squared circle of AEW and ROH over a month ago despite holding of both the ROH Tag Team and Six-Man Tag Team Championships. This has led to fans speculating about the reasons for this absence.
Rhodes’ in-ring absence might be due to his AEW contract which was set to expire toward the end of September or early in October as per reports.
However, recent reports from Fightful Select state that, the negotiations between Dustin Rhodes and AEW are ongoing but as of now, nothing has been finalized. Therefore Rhodes is currently a free agent until he signs a new contract with the AEW.
Although it has been over a month since the AEW star last competed in the ring, he has remained active outside. On September 22, he announced the launch of the Rhodes Wrestling Association, with the inaugural event set to take place in just over three weeks.
