Cody Rhodes’ brother re-signs with AEW
Former WWE star and AEW‘s double champion Dustin Rhodes has signed a new multi-year deal with the promotion recently. Known famously among WWE fans as ‘Goldust’ the Natural made the announcement via his social media.
Rhodes started by thanking the founder of the promotion Tony Khan and revealed that the Jacksonville-based promotion helped him rediscover his love for pro wrestling. The Natural also disclosed his intention to end his pro wrestling career in the promotion, as it feels like home to him.
Dustin also expressed the respect and love he has received from his fellow wrestlers and shared his excitement for the new adventures that lie ahead in his pro wrestling career.
“Today I have signed a new multi yr contract with @AEW I want to thank my boss @TonyKhan for every opportunity he has given me. Since coming here and being an original since inception, I have truly had the time of my life. Everybody knows my story, and how much I have been through in all my yrs. Lost my passion and found it again HERE in @AEW at the first Double Or Nothing. Did not expect this One Last Ride to last as long as it has, and man, what a run I have had.
I will finish my career here at #AEW as I feel it is home to me. I have never felt respected and wanted like I have here. This makes me want to do my very best for Tony and push myself harder than I ever have. I feel loved and wanted here. I love all of our roster deeply.
I want to thank the fans for all of your support. I want to thank the men and women in the locker rooms we have shared and created magic together. I want to thank @TonyKhan for believing in me and relying on me in so many ways. I won’t let you down.
I love it here in #AEW and can’t wait to see where the next few yrs take me. Thank you all for your constant love and support, and Thank you to @aew! And last but not least, I want to thank my family for their support. They are the true rockstars.” Dustin tweeted.
Dustin Rhodes joined the AEW in 2019
The Natural has had an eminent career in pro wrestling that spans over three decades. In his legendary career, he has worked with multiple promotions including WWE, TNA, and WCW.
The Natural is best known among pro wrestling fans for his work as ‘Goldust’ in the WWE. However, his recent run in the AEW and ROH is noteworthy.
Rhodes made his promotional debut in the Jacksonville-based promotion back in 2019. Ahead of ‘Road to Double or Nothing’ it was announced that Rhodes would compete against his real-life half-brother, Cody Rhodes.
AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view took place back in May 2019 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Natural failed to win the match but his performance was praised by fans and pundits.
Since his debut, Rhodes has also appeared in AEW’s sister promotion ROH (Ring Of Honor) where he is the current ROH World Tag Team Champion alongside Sammy Guevara as well as the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champions alongside Marshall and Ross Von Erich.
Although there were speculations among fans of Dustin joining his brother in the Stamford-based promotion, it looks like The Natural is going to conclude his career in the AEW.
